Tanzanian music star Harmonize held his first performance in Mombasa yesterday. The show which was sponspored by Safaricom (BYOB) was held at the Mombasa sports.

There were also perfomances from Kenyan artists including Khaligraph Jones, Ohms Law Montana, Lee Band, Fena Gitu and Timmy Tdat with Harmonize being the main act of the day.

The Kwangaru hitmaker took to the stage minutes after 5 pm and he did not disappoint his fans who had been camping at the grounds since morning waiting for his perfomance.

The singer was mesmerised by the amount of love and support that the fans showed him and he had to spend some minutes waving at the crowd appreciating the love before officially starting his perfomance. He performed most of his hits from Aiyola  to Kwangaru for close to two hours.

He at one time shared his life story with the fans.

Mombasa is among the counties that have been most affected by human trafficking in the country.

This has led to a group of Women from the county to take it upon themselves to fight the vice which has been mostly affecting Women and Children.

In an awareness meeting dubbed 'Women kahawa forum'  organised by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Mombasa and attended by the county Women Mp Asha Hussein, the Women alluded to the fact that they have a major role to play in the fight against the vice.

On her part the Women Mp Asha Hussein called for collective intervention from all the major stakeholders especially the government.

"Human trafficking is a threat to the whole society as it undermines the populations fundamental rights and freedoms , health and safety thus posing a threat to the national security" said Hussein.

She added" It is no secret that Mombasa county is used both as a source and conduit for Women and Children trafficking who are then used for domestic servitude forced labor in agriculture, catle herding and commercial sex exploitation by tourists".

She further pointed out that poverty is the overriding factor in human trafficking especially in Mombasa.

Other issues that the legislator raised includes the role of tourism and increased human trafficking especially touching on Women and children, connection between human trafficking and terrorism, connection between prostitution and human trafficking and also connection between human trafficking and the trade of human organs.

A report by IMO which is set for official release next week Monday when the world will be marking the World day against trafficking in persons shows that Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi are the most affected.

Also present at the meeting were representatives  of the National and County governments, community leaders (Women), Women activists and also  nominated Members of the Mombasa County assembly(Women)
