And it's not just about the stadium, he had a passion for football and promoting local teams and talents" said Modhar.

Adding "There is no other way that we can honour him apart from naming the stadium after him".

Speaking in Tana River in the presence of Joho, Nassir criticised the move by the county government to sack the doctors saying it is not the solution.

"This is 2021, this is the year that we need to focus more on dialogue. Sacking the doctors is not a solution" said Nassir.

Adding "As the Governor you need to punish those in your government who took that action and make sure that there is dialogue between the doctors and the county government. These are our doctors for heavens sake, we should not treat them this way".

The legislator further stated that he was confidence a dialogue will solve the problem and doctors will be back to work.

"I'm pleased that the senator Mohammed Faki has offered to spearhead the dialogue and be the mediator, I believe a solution will be found" he said.

On Thursday morning Kenyans woke up to a picture of the now famous Omar Lali with a beautiful lady making rounds on social media with some suggesting that the lady is his latest catch.

This is just some few months after Lali's girlfriend Tecra Muigai died, the late Tecra was a daughter to Keroche Breweries C.E.O Tabitha Karanja.

The lady identified as Koko Kamillah has however come out to set the record straight.

Through an instagram post, Koko revealed that they have been good friends with Lali for a very long time.

Not much is known about Koki but according to her photos on instagram she has been to Lamu several times.

Lali who lives in Lamu rose to fame after the death of Tecra, he was linked to the death, spending several days in a police cell and having to defend himself in the court of law. He was later released and the charges dropped.

Anerlisa Muigai has officially adopted her Tanzanian husband Ben Pol’s surname,.

She has now changed her official names to 'Anerlisa Muigai Mnyang'anga' as it appears on her official instagram page.

This comes months after their secret wedding held in Daresalaam.

In an interview with Tanzanian newspaper, Mwanaspoti revealed why the wedding was private.

"Our close friends and family knew about the wedding. Na hata baada ya kanisani tulijumuika nao kwa ajili ya chakula na vitu vingine. Sisi tunadhani ndoa ni kitu cha kifamilia ziadi." she said.

In the interview Arnelisa also refuted claims that they once had issues and broke up. The couple had been rumoured on various occasions to be having marital issues, with Anerlisa last year controversially deleting all of Ben pol’s pictures from her Instagram timeline.

President Uhuru Kenyatta today outlined a four-point agenda that Kenya will advance as the country settles into its non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The President listed leveraging the knowledge and buy-in of stakeholders closest to crises and supporting the Security Council as well as associated UN bodies to strengthen the capacity of state institutions during post-conflict reconstruction as two of the measures that Kenya will support.

“The Peace-building Commission will play an invaluable role, which Kenya will support closely over the next two years,” President Kenyatta said.

The Head of State spoke Wednesday evening during a virtual meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the challenges of maintaining peace and security in fragile contexts.

President Kenyatta said Kenya will also back measures aimed at strengthening the role of Africa and the Global South in the multilateral system as well as ensuring that the COVID-19 pandemic does not become a major driver of insecurity.

“If fragile countries do not get prompt access to the vaccine, their economic problems will likely turn into political and security challenges.

“Affordable and quick access to the COVID-19 vaccine should, therefore, be regarded as a valuable investment in peace,” President Kenyatta said.

Congratulating President Kais Saied of Tunisia for assuming the Presidency of the Security Council for the month of January 2021, President Kenyatta noted that Tunisia played a pivotal role in the adoption of Resolution 2532 by which the UNSC recognized the devastating impact of COVID-19 especially in countries in conflict or post-conflict situations.

President Kenyatta’s participation at the meeting follows Kenya’s assumption of its position at the UNSC as a non-permanent member for two years on Monday evening.

He noted that peace will only be maintained if countries faced with conflict are facilitated to be strong enough to win control of their territory and provide public services.

“The multilateral system, as embodied in the UN, will therefore need to help fragile states attain such capacities.

“The political processes that build peace and binding resolutions by this council should include measurable state strengthening elements,” President Kenyatta said.

He emphasized that the road to revitalising multilateralism to effectively deliver global peace and security must run through a united Africa and an active and engaged Global South.

Noting that the Security Council spends the bulk of its agenda on conflicts in Africa, President Kenyatta said this is testament to the fragility of many countries and regions on the continent.

“If we are to be true to the founding charter of the UN, it follows, therefore, that we should invest more in building more effective approaches or revitalizing existing mechanisms, that maintain peace and anchor stability in Africa,” President Kenyatta said.

He commended Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for becoming the plus one of the Africa three, saying the move allows the hundreds of millions in Africa, the Caribbean and other parts of the world to believe that their voice in the Security Council matters.

“That belief will lead to greater faith in the United Nations and its decisions. It is for this reason that I have tasked our Mission to the UN to be a strong voice for a united Africa, for the Global South and the General Assembly,” President Kenyatta said.

Speaking during the meeting, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, African Union Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat and former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf highlighted the root causes of global conflicts and called for a concerted effort to address them.

Other speakers included President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger and Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who emphasized the need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach in addressing fragility and instability in the world.

Mombasa County Govt Sacks 86 Doctors

Mombasa County Government has sacked 86 doctors including senior specialists.

Among those sacked is Kenya medical practitioners and dentists union (KMPDU) Secretary General Chibanzi Mwachonda.

In a letter sent to the County Chief officer medical services, County Chief officer public health and the CEO Coast general hospital by the County Secretary Jeizan Faruk, the doctors have been sacked for boycotting duty.

"Following the correspondence shared between the Department of Health and the County Public Service Board on the doctors strike, the Board, pursuant to Section 59 (1) (c) of the County Governments Act number 17 of 2012, hereby conveys its decision via Special Board meeting held on January 5, 2021 that all the doctors who have failed, refused and/or neglected to return to work be dismissed from county services as provided for under Section 44 (4) (a), (c) and (e) of the Employment Act 2007 which constitute justifiable or lawful grounds for the dismissal as highlighted in the Act," reads the letter.

Doctors from the county have been on strike since December 2 accusing the county government of giving turning a deaf ear towards their grievances.

This comes as ODM leader Raila Odinga called on the two levels of government to move with speed and resolve the existing stalemate in the health sector.

"Last Thursday, the country breathed a collective sigh of relief when health workers called off their strike after a return to work agreement signed by the ministry of health and KMPDU. The talks also included SRC and a representative from the Council of Governors. It is therefore shocking that hardly a week later, clinical offices are threatening to down their tolls again because the very same issues covered in the RTWF signed last week are not being implemented." reads a statement from Raila.

Adding “This is therefore a time we need all our health workers on duty or on standby, not on strike or being tossed around between the two levels of government.”

Diamond Platnumz's Television station Wasafi TV has been banned for six months, effective January 5.

According to the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the station which is currently among the top Tv stations in Tanzania violated the broadcasting regulations during the Tumewasha festival on January 1, by airing live singer and socialite Giggy Money dancing on stage while almost nude.

Addressing the media in Dares Salaam on Tuesday, TCRA’s acting director Johannes Kalungule said the station risks facing other legal actions if it fails to observe the directive.

TCRA has also directed the station to offer a public apology.

This is not the first time that a media house associated to Diamond Platnumz is being suspended. In September last year, the sister station Wasafi fm was suspended for seven days after airing what was termed as abusive language through one of its programmes,  'Mashamsham'.
