After dropping a sneak peak for his long-awaited sophomore album, Chemsha Changanya, Kuiyu follows up with the music video for Butter, shot and directed by PKG INC.

In his signature style, Kuiyu is sharing his story about being free and owning his intimacy, sometimes hard other times soft.

The video finds the Kiambu bred singer in a feel-good chill mood with happy people around him.

The project itself is a dedication to close friendship, individual beauty, freedoms and expressions, motivated by the themes ‘black boy joy’ and ‘black girl magic’.

The tracks’ architecture is an interesting, ear arousing assortment of sounds traditionally referred to as ‘indigenous’ sandwiched in a careful arrangement of Urban elements.

The music is lost in between RnB/Trap sequences and Afro-Soul dynamics making ‘Butter’ a unique contribution to East African Music Making.

Butter’ offers a reintroduction into the portrayal of the masculine and the feminine, the African and the foreign, the pop and the folk.

As audiences evolve in the cosmopolitan environments, the music evolves too. What started out as an alternative experiment is set to become a model and template for future folk, RnB and bilingual creative  expression.

About

Kuiyu’s art draws from multiple influences without leaning on one in particular. A wandering spirit, he exemplifies authentic expression coloring outside the lines in his audio and visual art creations. His work resonates with a vulnerable essence, bold styling and edifying spirit. He hopes to delve deeper Exploring romanticism, identity and orientations, spirituality and the emancipation of the African mind in his upcoming sophomore album and virtual concert.

ABOUT THE SONG

“I wrote the song 4years ago, from a point of acknowledging that God is great and greater than all other names. In my ups and downs, I choose to exalt His Name. The recording and release of the song couldn't have come at a better time than this. Days preceding the Mungu Mkuu video shoot were interesting. I had worked straight for 12 days and it was during this period while at work in the hospital that I got to launch the song with a patient in the isolation ward. That one particular patient that I ministered to also ministered to me with a word from Psalms 29; which happens to be one of my favorite chapters. “– Jescar Karimi

President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for more trade and investment deals among member countries of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).

President Kenyatta, who is the current President-in-Office of the Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government, said the over one billion people that make up the 79-member multilateral body provides a huge potential for intra-OACPS trade and investments.

"With a combined population of over 1.1 billion people and a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of about US$ 3.2 trillion, the transition from ACP to OACPS presents enormous opportunities for intra-OACPS trade and investments; and the achievement of greater shared prosperity for all our people," the President said.

President Kenyatta spoke Thursday night at State House, Nairobi when he delivered the opening statement during a virtual townhall meeting of the OACPS. The meeting was convened to commemorate the first anniversary of the revised Georgetown Agreement.

The revised Georgetown Agreement, which came into force on 5th April 2020, was adopted during the OACPS 9th summit held in Nairobi in December 2019 and introduced several reforms among them, the renaming of the bloc from ACP Group of States to OACPS.

In his statement, President Kenyatta outlined his vision for the multilateral institution saying he envisions a transitionary OACPS that is united and progressive.

"We should aim for a transition that supports structural transformation to foster industrialization, diversification of our economies and an increase in value addition of our primary products.

"Secondly, the OACPS of the future should strengthen our solidarity and unity.    Underlying the establishment of the ACP Group was our desire to promote unity and solidarity of the ACP States," the President said.

He said OACPS needs to leverage on its past successes such as the existing Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) to become a "more influential actor in the global economic arena".

President Kenyatta also spoke about the impact of Covid-19 on OACPS countries saying member states need to "use creativity and innovation to recover together and build back better".

"Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged our health and economic systems. Livelihoods have been destroyed rendering hundreds of millions of our people into unemployment and poverty. The services sector, in particular the tourism sector, has been crippled with devastating impacts on coastal and island states.

"As I said last June during the 1st Extraordinary Inter-Sessional Summit of Heads of State and Government, our solidarity and commitment to intra-OACPS cooperation has been tested by the pandemic. A key lesson is that we need to synergize our energies and use creativity and innovation to recover together and build back better," the President said.

On financing of development in OACPS, President Kenyatta called for a multi-pronged approach to resource mobilization and welcomed the various debt relief mechanisms.

"Regarding financing, we need to use the various multilateral platforms to mobilize resources for development. In this context, we welcome debt relief measures, which have created the needed fiscal space to reduce the negative effects of the pandemic.

"However, we seek a continuation of the debt suspension initiative; and debt cancellation, for the most severely affected countries. The prolonged pandemic requires continuous mitigation measures," he said.

The President welcomed the completion of a new agreement between OACPS and the European Union (EU) saying the pact will be initialed later this month.

Once again, President Kenyatta thanked the OACPS for backing Kenya's successful bid for the non-permanent UN Security Council seat and assured that Kenya will articulate the bloc's agenda during its tenure.

In his maiden state-of-the-organization address, OACPS Secretary General Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti affirmed the organization's commitment to multilateralism saying it will continue to be a strong advocate of global solidarity.

Mr Chikoti said the OACPS Secretariat fully supports the COVAX Covid-19 vaccine sharing platform, adding that the organization will soon roll-out a five-year strategic plan, 2021 to 2025, to bring on board the provisions of the revised Georgetown Agreement as well as the new OACPS-EU agreement.

Alongside the strategic plan, the Secretary General said the OACPS Secretariat was working of a communications strategy to help reposition the organization among its internal and external stakeholders.

President Kenyatta was joined at the townhall meeting, moderated by Trinidad and Tobago's Minister for Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Brown, by Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo and Head of Public Service Dr Joseph Kinyua.
