Tanasha Working On A New Video With Masauti

In a recent interview with Gates Mgenge on Gates Live online show, Masauti shared that he would be working with an anonymous artist on a song from his EP 001 and as word has it, the artist was recently spotted on a video shoot in Mombasa with songbird Tanasha Donna.

The video is directed by one of Tanzania’s best video directors Hanscana working together with Mombasa based production house, above the rim as the executive producer.

The new song is titled 'Liar'. The audio was recorded by Mombasa based music producer Shirko.

Tanasha and Masauti on set

Tanasha who is  Diamond Platnumz's ex girlfriend and baby mama seems to be doing amazingly well in the industry as she celebrated her milestones with her Sawa music video which she released about a month ago and has well over 1.5Million views on YouTube.

Sawa from her Donna Tella EP  is a representation of Love Peace and Unity, both of self and to others.  And well the song has allowed more people to see Tanasha more as the amazing woman and artist that she is away from being just Dimaond's ex and baby mama.

“1.5M+ views in 1 month. That’s an achievement and a half for me. It’s not easy for a female in this industry doing it on her own…the sleepless  nights my team and I had, financing your own projects (songs and videos) being behind every single step or every creative process of any project, having to enter boardroom meetings and try convince some bosses (some who are team mafisi) to trust the art… having a son and family to take care of…being your own boss is tough I tell you, but  when you see the fruits of your hard work finally blossom and grow into something amazing you know you’re blessed and become grateful. And trust me am just getting started,” shared Tanasha on her social media page.

She also added that as much as Sawa was not in her genre of creativity, she had to drop a positive and catchy song to encourage people through the tough times.

“Thank you East Africa, our song trended not only in EA but also all over UAE, hit #1 in countries I never expected leave alone ever been to, Qatar, Dubai, Oman, Saudi and it’s all because of the amazing love East Africans and Africans have shown me even when most thought I wouldn’t make it far once on my own,” she added.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has commended community health workers for the frontline role they play in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The First Lady pointed out that community education on health matters can save lives and it is critical especially at this time of the Coronavirus crisis.

“I applaud your selfless commitment to your work and your courage and compassion for people and for the community. I acknowledge the sacrifice you give of your time towards the demanding role of being community health workers,” the First Lady told community health volunteers.

The First Lady was speaking today when she presided over the virtual graduation of the first cohort of the 5100 community health volunteers who have completed a one-month training on COVID-19 response sponsored by the Beyond Zero initiative at a cost of Kshs 4.5 million.

The community health volunteers training curriculum developed by the Ministry of Health was delivered virtually by the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) through a digital learning platform called “Leap mhealth”.

The First Lady expressed optimism that the training the community health volunteers received will ramp up their contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Through the COVID-19 curriculum and guide developed by the Ministry of Health, you are now empowered and equipped with knowledge, skills and competence to protect yourselves, your families and the community,” the First Lady told the community health workers.

Congratulating the community health volunteers for successfully completing the training, the First Lady assured them of her support.

“The work you are doing is for all of us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I just want to say how proud I am with each and every one of you. Please continue with this work because we need you,” she praised the community health volunteers.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, at the same time, spoke against the stigmatization of individuals and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

She emphasized that those affected by the global pandemic should be offered compassion and comfort instead of discrimination.

“We are all affected and we will require all of us to support each other in any way we can to ease the disruption this pandemic has caused to our lives,” the First Lady said.

The First Lady noted that the support to families and communities has now become more urgent than ever before given the fact that jobs have been lost and household resources stretched beyond limits.

She encouraged all Kenyans to play their part in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus by strictly observing the Ministry of health guidelines that include washing hands with soap, wearing masks and social distancing.

“We have learnt that more effort will be required from all of us to eliminate the risks that make us more vulnerable, especially amongst the elderly and those facing other multiple health issues like heart disease, diabetes and cancer,” the First Lady said.

The First Lady also acknowledged the role and bravery of all frontline health workers in the fight against the pandemic.

"You have been actively involved in contributing towards national efforts in tackling health issues facing communities. Your work keeps us safe especially during this pandemic,” the First Lady said.

Other speakers included Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director of Health Dr Josephine Kibaru and AMREF Enterprise CEO Caroline Mbindyo.

Dr Kibaru and Ms Mbindyo applauded the partnership between Beyond Zero, Nairobi Metropolitan Services and AMREF in training community health workers to help in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus.

Masauti Opens Up On Meeting With Joho

Photos of Masauti Kenyan Boy dining with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho last week went viral on social media, a clear gesture that something was in the cooking, and the artist has confirmed that the governor has extended an arm towards supporting his musical career.

Joho has not only  gained popularity for his stylish looks and musical taste but also for influence and support for artists both in Mombasa and Tanzania, which has created a very close friendship between him and the entertainers on both ends.

The Ipepete hit maker revealed the details of the dinner meeting with the governor during an interview with Gates Mgenge on Gates Live online show.

“You know the boss is someone who loves and supports talent and music. So he definitely heard that I was doing great things,  he called me over to talk about my musical career. He did not even let me explain in detail what I have been doing before going ahead to explain in detail how he was going to support me,” Said Masauti.

The artist is working to soon release his new EP, 001 which he gisted has 3 solos and one collaboration, with an anonymous artist he refused to reveal yet.

“This one will be a surprise, you will all know after the release. I just want to break the mentality that I only do singles,” He said.

Despite working with many big Tanzanian and Kenyan names including Nandy, Aslay, Khaligraph Jones and others whose personal lives are constantly in the public, the coastal star is known for his low-key way of living, especially relationships. This he says is simply to protect him from dramas in the public eye especially considering his genre of music.

“I avoid speaking on my relationship matters to avoid drama. Especially given that love matters is part and parcel with my music. I have to say though that I have even posted my girlfriend a lot but people just don’t seem to notice that she is the one. So I choose to leave that bit out for now,” added the artist.

Air France and KLM will tomorrow resume passenger flights to Kenya following the lifting of the ban on international flights into Kenya due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move comes after Kenya on July 6 lifted an earlier ban on inbound flights due to the Covid-19 health crisis, allowing airlines to fly into the country effective August 1.

Passengers can now fly Air France and KLM from Nairobi to Paris and Amsterdam with the possibility of transfer to other European and North Atlantic destinations.

KLM has scheduled four weekly passenger flights between Amsterdam Schiphol and Nairobi on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday flying the Boeing 787-10.

On its part, Air France will resume flights from August 6 with one passenger flight per week on the Boeing 787-9 from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Nairobi on Thursdays returning to Paris on Friday.

Countries around the world have been gradually opening up their borders to pave way for resumption of global air travel after flights were suspended due to travel restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.

Air France – KLM Commercial Director for Eastern Africa Steven Van Wijk, says the flights to and from Nairobi will be operated in strict compliance with local and international health protocols and will adhere to the highest standards of health and hygiene.

“We wish to assure all our customers that we have taken precautionary measures to ensure that we conduct our operations safely, comfortably and responsibly. The safety of our passengers and crew will always be our top priority and this is why we have taken all necessary measures in accordance with WHO guidelines,” said Steven.

Passengers are however advised to familiarize themselves with applicable travel restrictions that vary from country to country and may be subject to change prior to booking.

In particular, they need to be aware of the entry and residency rules for the destination countries as these are likely to have changed with the evolving global health situation.

KLM and Air France have taken various measures before and after boarding at Schiphol and Charles de Gaulle airports. This includes clear communication on social distancing at check in, gates and service/transfer desks.

Passengers will also be screened depending on the laws applicable at the passenger’s point of departure and destination. In addition, they will only be allowed to pay for various services using a debit or credit card.

The aircraft are also equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters thus ensuring high-quality, clean cabin air that is circulated regularly and replaced every three minutes by the aircraft’s air-conditioning system.

The airflows circulate top-down further reducing the chance of transmission of the virus from person to person.

Furthermore, passengers all sit facing in the same direction, which means there is little face-to-face interaction, with seat backs forming a barrier that prevents forward and backward transmission in the cabin.

The resumption of flights by Air France and KLM will further boost Kenya’s economic recovery efforts and especially the tourism and horticulture sectors which are dependent on air connectivity to key markets in Europe, US and other parts of the world.

Nigerian afro-dancehall superstar PATORANKING announces his third album, Three, arriving Aug. 28 via his own Amari Musiq imprint and US-based indie powerhouse, EMPIRE.

The project’s lead single “Abule”, a celebration of his Lagos neighborhood, Ebute Metta, and of hoods worldwide premiered today on Beats1 with Ebro, and is out now via all DSPs.

One of contemporary Africa’s most multifaceted artists, PATORANKING is an international reggae star whose dancehall anthems (“Daniella Whine,” “Suh Different”) have resonated from Nigeria to Jamaica.

At the same time, his afropop collaborations with Tiwa Savage (“Girlie O”), Wande Coal (“My Woman, My Everything”) and Diamond Platinumz (“Love You Die”) have made him a continental icon.

He’s extended his influence into North America through partnerships with U.S. labels EMPIRE and VP Records, and touring with hip-hop/soul icon Lauryn Hill. All told, his tracks have generated more than 250 million views on YouTube and over 160 million streams across major DSPs.

From “Odo Bra” with Ghanaian highlife star KING PROMISE to “Whine It” with Kenya’s SAUTI SOL, there’s no shortage of musical diversity on Three.

The project delivers a heavyweight slice of conscious reggae on “Lion in the Jungle” while the tender “Matter” sees PATORANKING reconnect with TIWA SAVAGE, with whom he previously teamed on breakout track, “Girlie O.”

Three is a strong number,“ PATORANKING says of the album title’s significance. “It stands for how I see language. In making the album, we tried to look at love, life and happiness. If you are listening to any of the tracks, even if it is a dance track, I want you to feel love.”

STREAM PATORANKING’S NEW SINGLE, ‘ABULE’

The release of “Abule” will be supported by several digital initiatives, and a music video dropping Aug. 5, all with the theme of representing and protecting your hood.

PATORANKING is encouraging fans to rep their respective hood/area/zanga/zone/endz by creating custom graphics at repyourabule.com, launching today.

Site visitors enter the name of their community, and upload or choose an existing background image on the site, which they can then instantly download and/or share to social media with the hashtag #repyourabule.

On July 31, PATORANKING joins TikTok’s #SpiritsUp campaign, an initiative by the video-sharing social media platform to support its recent launch in Africa.

At 1pm EST/6pm WAT, he will host a TikTok livestream, including a Q+A and live performance, to launch the #AbuleDanceChallenge, encouraging users to upload videos of themselves dancing to the track.

As part of the partnership, TikTok SA is donating funds for communities across Africa in need of Coronavirus relief.

“I’m proud to be from my abule, Ebute Metta, because to have made it coming from there it’s only by God’s grace,” Patoranking says.

Adding ”It’s made me who I am today and it’s part of my story. So I waste no opportunity to let people know about my ghetto. I feel it’s important through this new song to give my fans a chance to celebrate their own abules.”

In addition to the new project, Patoranking can also be heard on the new version of Bob Marley’s “One Love” alongside Stephen Marley, Skip Marley and other members of the international music community, with all proceeds going to support Unicef’s Covid-19 relief efforts.

He recently created the ALU Patoranking Scholarship, offering 10 fully-paid scholarships for promising students from across Africa to attend the prestigious African Leadership University, and was featured in Forbes Africa’s 30 under 30 class for 2020.

KPA Suppliers Head To Court Over Payments

Four firms are up in arms against the Kenya Ports Authority [KPA] management over pending payments for contractors and suppliers.

The companies accuse KPA  management of making  payments selectively through the KPA board of directors which is headed by it's  chairman Major General (Rtd) Joseph Kibwana.

They are pointing an accusing finger at controversial KPA General Manager Finance Patrick Nyoike who is currently facing graft charges in court..

The companies have moved to court to demand for their payment.

Through Richard Ongegu, an advocate of the high court, under certificate of urgency they said the firms are mainly on contract work.

He said despite the firms having engaged their resources and having completed the awarded tender projects, KPA has declined to pay them.

According to documents from KPA head of litigation and disputes signed on behalf of General Manager board and legal service by John Turasha the acting General Manager Finance, General Manager Infrastructure and development and head of procurement have been asked to provide details of the firms.

The Source Logistics [EA] Limited had won a contract worth Sh 64.2 million but was paid Sh 20.5 million

The firm is demanding the pending amount with 15 per cent inertest.

Outback Investment Limited claims outstanding payment of 71.1 million and wants the full amount with 15 per cent interest.

Grand Logistics Limited is demanding for Sh 72.4 million against an outstanding amount of Sh 248.4 million.

Some of the contractors and suppliers argued their pending payments are not the first but second at the port.

They said they are wondering what the board has got to do with payment of contractors and suppliers arguing no payments can be done without the issuance of a certificate of completion of work done through the inspection committee.

The contractors and suppliers said some of them took loans from banks which want to auction their assets as they cannot service the loan due to non-payment of their dues by the authority.

In his letter the KPA official demanded for more details to able to make a compressive response to the firms’ demands and defend the authority from the suit.

In addition Turasha had asked the heads of departments to avail him with necessary documents in support of the brief for their further action.

He noted in the letter to the heads of departments that all four suits seek for orders for payments of claimed outstanding contractual amount each plus 15 per cent interest.

On his part, KPA Major General (Rtd) Joseph Kibwana said he will follow up the matter and get appropriate answers from those mandated to deal with suppliers and contractors.

FKF Presidential Aspirant

Fair play is central to football. It is the foundation on which the sport is built. Fair play is a complex concept that comprises and embodies a number of fundamental values that are not only integral to sport.

It is relevant in everyday life including fair competition, respect, friendship, team spirit, equality, sport without doping, respect for written and unwritten rules such as integrity, solidarity, tolerance, care, excellence and joy as articulated by the International Fair Play Committee.

For football to flourish in Kenya fair play has to be learnt, experienced, promoted and protected both on and off the field.

Kenya’s football fraternity ensured that Fair Play was one of the key foundations on which Kenya’s football would be built when they passed a new constitution in 2017.

The Constitution of Football Kenya Federation (2017) instructs that the FKF objectives must be carried out, “in the spirit of fair play”, that the FKF must promote “fair play”, and that every person and organization involved in football must “observe the principles of fair play”.

It is disappointing to note that over the last year football in Kenya has been run in a manner that goes completely against all principles of fair play.

Even worse, the FKF is being run currently without a legal mandate and this threatens the future of the beautiful game in Kenya.

The Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) has cancelled FKF elections twice. (The Sports Disputes Tribunal was formed under the Sports Act 2013 and its main role is to hear and give verdicts on appeals against decisions made by sports teams and other sports bodies in Kenya.)

In December 2019 elections were cancelled over an improper electoral code and an irregularly constituted electoral board.

However, the SDT allowed the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) members to remain in office to facilitate fresh elections.

In March 2020, the SDT was forced to intervene again over discriminatory eligibility rules in the electoral code which had been tailored to fit the incumbent.

This time the SDT felt that the NEC was beyond redemption and ordered them to vacate office and currently as it stands there is NO NEC in office.

Unfortunately, the key victims of all this underhand behaviour are those who make a living from football, such as our footballers, coaches and referees.

That this unsporting behaviour by those who are tasked with protecting the sport happens in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic when our society, health and economy is under stress means we no longer have the luxury of time.

Hunger, health and housing issues threaten the football community in Kenya. FKF Members must act swiftly to save Kenyan football.

The Constitution of the FKF makes it clear that the FKF exists to protect the interests of its Members.

It is clear beyond reasonable doubt that without a NEC in office football operations are limited.

Therefore, it causes that the FKF General Assembly, the supreme and legislative body of FKF, must act swiftly and decisively to protect football.

FKF members must now call a Special General Assembly (SGM) under Article 31 of the FKF Constitution which compels the NEC to convene an SGM, “if more than 50% of the delegates representing the Members of FKF make such a request in writing.”

The agenda of this SGM will be to:

1. Appoint an interim committee to oversight the election process of Kenyan football immediately.

2. The Electoral Board meets with stakeholders to draw up the electoral road map and agree on the electoral code in place. FKF members have the power to clean their own house.

FKF members have a responsibility to all who make a living from football, such as our players, coaches and referees, to put our affairs in order.

FKF Members need to call an SGM as soon as possible. FKF members must return Fair Play to the heart of Kenya football. They owe it to our future generations.
