KTN's Francis Mtalaki set to wed this December

Mombasa based KTN senior news reporter Francis Mtalaki is now set to ditch the bachelors club.

The soft spoken journalist will be walking down the aisle with his better half Mary Mwakesi who has a vast interest in political science and public administration on December 1st in Mombasa.

The wedding will be held at the ACK Cathedral church Mombasa with a number of dignitaries including local politicians  expected to attend.
The two have been dating for close to three new years now.

 

The Coca-Cola Company, through their music flagship show, Coke Studio Africa, announce the return of a new season, set to air February 2019.

Production of Coke Studio Africa 2019 will commence at Super Sport Studios in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi starting first week of November 2018.

Coke Studio Africa Project Manager Andrew Endovo Alovi says, “We are excited to soon kick start the production of Coke Studio Africa 2019 expect an interesting twist of themes and musical fusions! The show has always been at the forefront of producing quality music while at the same time granting various artists across the continent mega exposure, and opportunities to collaborate among each other. They also get to work with some of the best local and international professionals in the music world.”

He adds "Much as the final list of artists participating will be unveiled in a few days, we are very excited that the pool of young and vibrant artists across the continent has significantly grown and we now have many stars to bring together to make amazing collaborations for the world to see and hear. The artists will be paired alongside Coke Studio Africa Super producers, who will then be tasked with engineering the show’s musical fusions and collaborations".

Monali Shah, Head of Content Excellence, for Coca-Cola Southern and East African Business Unit says, “We are very excited to have some new partners come on board to join us as we make great music from Africa to the world. Dusit D2 shall be our official hospitality partner for this new season. As a very progressive hotel that fully embraces the arts we are glad that they have come on board to join us in this journey.”

She adds, “Pace Africa, who design and manufacture an array of audio devices such as PACE FOCUS and PACE MATE will power up the sound for the season providing us with headphones and earphones both for the production and for some of our lucky consumers.”

South African production giant Mashoba Media has been given the task to put together the 2019 season working with a team of experts from around the continent.

“We are very excited to be back in Nairobi for one of our most favorite and challenging projects. We will focus on delivering world class quality in sound and picture as we tell stories from Africa through music,” says Tim Horwood the Executive Creative Director.

The official first episode of Coke Studio Africa 2019 is expected to air February 2019 but before then, the show will release exclusive and original content online and on TV themed for Christmas season.

Fast rising and talented artist Beryl Owano has released a new single titled “Utafilisika”.

“Utafilisika” has been produced by Boy David and was co –written by Beryl Owano and J Mbeki, visuals by upcoming video director Job Ng’weno.

Beryl explains her thought process behind the song saying: “A lot of people blame the ladies when the sponsor issue is raised leaving the sponsor out of the equation when in in reality both should be condemned and warned of the consequences of extra marital affairs on the family and society, the song is just my way of expressing how I feel about the whole issue and to also teach our young girls the importance of self-love and self-worth. 

Utafilisika is the 7th single off her upcoming debut album set for release in 2019. Beryl is currently in the studio working on her album and will be unveiling plans for her brand soon. The song is now on boomplay, plans are underway to make it available to fans on all digital platforms,

The Grammy-award winning music group Morgan Heritage and East Africa’s “Rolls Royce Musician” and MTV EMA Winner Diamond Platinumz are ready to make history once again! This time, alongside Ghanaian BET award-winner and Dancehall King: Stonebwoy.

They have just released their new song  “Africa Jamaica”—the lead single off their upcoming album set for release in 2019.

 Morgan Heritage flew all the way to Ghana, West Africa to shoot the music video music video, directed by Jordan Hoechlin and Morgan Heritage, with Stonebwoy and Diamond. On their way to Ghana Morgan Heritage also filmed some scenes in Cape Verde.

Last time Morgan Heritage and Diamond released their first collaboration it garnered more than 1 Million YouTube views in 24 hours. An official statement from Morgan Heritage touted the video as a “Must watch!”.

The provisional list of the 2018 SPL Awards nominees has been released, among those on the list is Bandari FC coach Bernarde Mwalala nominated in the Coach of the year category battling out with Dylan Kerr of Gor Mahia, Robert Matano (Tusker Fc), Danstan Nayudo ( Ulinzi stars) and John Baraza ( Sofapaka).

Bandari FC's defender Felly Mulumba has also been nominated as the Defender of the year.

The Awards will be held at the Kenya School of Government on Thursday 25th October.

Tarrus Riley in Kenya for Mashujaa day concert

Jamaican reggae artiste Tarrus Riley is in Nairobi ahead of the Mashujaa performance.
 
The Royal hitmaker jetted in the country on Wednesday and appeared for a press conference on Thursday alongside Everton Blender, another Jamaican reggae artiste.
 
The concert is being supported by HBR.
 
Riley is son to legendary Jimmy Riley whose music journey was a big inspiration to the Just The Way You Are hit maker.
 
He speaks highly of his mother whom he says is an old school Jamaican who wasn't in support of the Rastafarian lifestyle when he started singing.
 
Riley made his debut with his hit album in 2004.
 
Recently, he released a song with Kenyan artiste Zikki. He also featured radio presenter Talia Oyando in his hit 'Just The Way You Are' a song that is currently reigning with 10 million views on You tube.
 

Ms. Rachel Muthoga, Moving The Goalposts’ board member has won the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for Women in Sports award for Africa during the Awards Ceremony at the Olympism in Action Forum, that took place in Buenos Aires on 5thand 6thOctober, 2018.

Ms. Rachel was among the six role models and advocates recognized by IOC for advancing women in and through sport.

She stood out to be the only winner from Africa working with a Sports for development organization committed to inspiring and building confidence and self-esteem in girls and young women through football.

Introduced in 2000, the IOC Women and Sport Awards are given to women, men or organizations who have made remarkable contributions to the development, encouragement and reinforcement of women through sport.

One World Trophy and five Continental Trophies are awarded every year.
