Mombasa based musician Susumila has just released his latest video featuring WCB's Lava Lava.

The video is titled 'Warembo'.

In the song Susumila also talks about his ex wife Kibibi Salim.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is tomorrow morning expected to meet all elected leaders from Mombasa county following the recent cases of insecurity in the county.

The meeting which will take place at the Governor's office comes just days after the dreaded wakali kwanza outlawed group unleashed terror on residents of Bamburi and Kisauni areas injuring more that 12 people.

Police have accused local politicians, drug cartels and land grabbers of being behind the attacks

It is still not yet clear if the Governor Hassan Joho will attend the meeting as he is still on  official leave.

A message from the Mombasa County assembly whip Charles Kitula to the MCAs on the meeting, seen by Ommy Dallah reads " Dear Hon You are kindly requested  to attend a meeting at Hon. Governor's office tomorrow at 9am the Chief guest will be Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang'i Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security. President Uhuru Kenyatta has invited Barbadian investors to set shop in Kenya saying his administration has created an enabling environment for both foreign and local businesses to thrive.

President Kenyatta said the Kenyan government has put in place mechanisms such as protection of investment legislation and other instruments that facilitate an enabling business environment.

The Head of State added that Kenya is a signatory to a number of treaties in the region that make it a gateway not only to the East African market but also to the rest of Africa.

“Kenya is an entry point into the African market and if your businesses come to Kenya, they will get access to an African population of 1.2 billion,” President Kenyatta assured the Barbadian business community.

“Kenya is a member of the East African Community, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and has ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA),” he added.

The President spoke in Bridgetown, Barbados during a business forum that brought together Kenyan and Barbadian investors to discuss business opportunities that exist in the two countries.

President Kenyatta said Kenya and Barbados may be thousands of miles apart but there are existing opportunities that can shorten that distance.

“Kenya is open for business. Kenya is ready for business. We want to partner with you and we believe that our partnership will be mutually beneficial,” President Kenyatta told the investors.

He pointed out that Kenya was ranked position 61 out of 190 countries by the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report 2019.

“It is against this backdrop that Kenya is the preferred destination for investment in the Eastern and Central Africa region and therefore welcomes Barbadian investors,” the President said.

The Kenyan leader singled out the tourism sector, mobile money, renewable energy, blue economy and affordable housing as emerging areas that present lucrative opportunities for foreign investment.

“When it comes to fintech, we would want to see how we can partner to help you develop your product through mobile money platforms not just for Barbados but for the entire CARICOM region,” the President said.

The President advised Kenyan investors not to look at Barbados as a single country but an entry point into the wider Caribbean Community (CARICOM) market.

“We should see this region as the new frontier, as the real true South partner that we can work together with and of whom we share a very similar outlook of the future,” he said.

President Kenyatta said the political will at the top could only be translated into prosperity for Kenya and Barbados if the private sector plays its role effectively as the true front runners of the process.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries should work to remove the obstacles that hinder trade between them by involving their respective private sectors.

“Traditionally, Barbadians do not invest in Africa in tourism. Traditional Africans do not invest in Caribbean in tourism. There is absolutely no reason for that not to happen,” she said.

The PM emphasized that private sector investment in the two countries should not be a preserve of big companies saying small and medium sized enterprises should also be given the platform to participate.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Tuesday evening launched celebrations to mark the International Decade of People of African Descent in Kingston Jamaica.

The launch of the celebrations to mark the United Nations designated period were unveiled as Jamaica observed its 57th independence anniversary.

The colourful ceremony was held at the Jamaica National Stadium and attended by thousands of enthusiastic Jamaicans who traveled from across the country to attend the historic event in Kingston, the country's capital city.

The highlight of the celebration was a presentation of songs and dances from the Americas which are what people of African descent remember of the traditions they came with to the Americas 400 years ago.

The presentations included nostalgic pieces from Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, New Orleans and Jamaica itself.

The presentations also included songs and dances paying homage to Africa with special mentions to Kenya whose President was the chief guest at the celebrations.

President Kenyatta, who was the chief guest at the event, said he was honoured to represent the African continent at the launch of the important celebrations.

“It gives me great pleasure to declare Jamaica’s commemorations to mark the United Nations Decade for People of African Descent officially open,” said President Kenyatta.

PM Holness said Jamaica will host several events over the next year until the 6th of August 2020 to celebrate the decade.

The launch of the celebrations coincides with the 400 year anniversary of the time ships carrying Africans first landed in the Americas.

It also coincides with the centenary of when Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey incorporated the Black Star Liner, ships which were to be used to repatriate Africans in the diaspora back to the continent.

Marcus Garvey’s teachings of African unity and independence had significant impact on the Pan African movements and also influenced the fight for independence.

Even though many Africans on the continent spend a lifetime without ever hearing of the history of black people in the Americas, there are millions of Africans in the diaspora who constantly search for their heritage and are very attached to Africa.

Among the places President Kenyatta has visited included the Jamaican Heroes Circle where he laid a wreath at the shrine of Garvey.

Prime Minister Holness said Jamaica will use the celebrations to mark the decade of people of African Descent to pay homage to Africa.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Kenyatta was the chief guest at the 67th Jamaica Agricultural Show at Denbigh.

President Kenyatta who toured the show ground was impressed by, among others, the variety of high grade cattle breeds developed by Jamaican scientists. The tropical cattle breeds include the Jamaican Hope, Jamaican Brahman, Jamaican Red and Jamaican Black. The cattle have the hardiness of the Zebu cattle and superior beef characteristics of the Aberdeen Angus.

President Kenyatta and PM Holness said that as part of the growing cooperation between the two developing countries, Kenya and Jamaica will work closely in exchange of expertise and technical knowhow in agriculture.

On Monday the two leaders held bilateral talks where they witnessed the signing of four deals to deepen ties between Kenya and Jamaica.

The agreements signed included MoUs on technical cooperation in tourism and also in the fields of sports, culture and heritage. The two leaders also witnessed the signing of a framework of cooperation between the two governments and an MoU on political consultations.

Besides the agreements that were signed, the two leaders and their delegations discussed plans to introduce air transport connections between Kenya and Jamaica.

Business was temporarily disrupted in the national assembly today morning after Kwale Women Representative Zulekha Hassan decided to walk in the chamber with her baby.

Temporary House Deputy Speaker Christopher Omulele had a hectic time controlling MPs in the House as some of the  Mps led by the majority leader Aden Duale criticisng the move by Zulekha.

The House was debating the Kenya-Somalia Maritime Border Dispute Resolution before Zulekha walked in with her baby. Majority Leader Aden Duale was forced to cut his submission, saying Zulekha was out of order.

“That member must be cited for gross misconduct. We must protect the dignity of the House,” said Duale

Omulele  ordered Zulekha out  advising MPs to use facilities the Parliamentary Service Commission had provided for lactating mothers.

Homa Bay town MP Peter Kaluma was among those who defended Zulekha's action  saying that she should not be separated with her new born baby.

Kaluma charged “If you are a Member of Parliament who is breastfeeding, in the best interest of that child, the child cannot be separated from you when you are in the course of your duty in the Assembly,” .

Women Mps walked out of the chamber in solidarity with their colleague threatening to also come with their children if a nursery is not set up in the parliament.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta wants teenage mothers re-integrated  into schools to give them a chance to complete their education.

She said early pregnancies should not mean a dead end to the education of girls or condemn the young mothers to misery and poverty associated with illiteracy.

The Kenyan First Lady spoke at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF) in Kingston on Monday where  she was the guest of honour.

She spoke to a group of teenage mothers who have successfully been reintegrated back to school through a special programme for adolescent mothers.

The First Lady is accompanying President Uhuru Kenyatta who is on a three-day state visit of the Caribbean nation.

“I have fervently supported projects - such as this one, that encourage girls to stay in school to benefit from uninterrupted education despite their circumstances. I truly believe in the promise of hope that education gives to empower our girls,” First Lady Margaret Kenyatta said.

She said keeping girls in school directly lowers the rate of maternal mortality and protects young women from challenges such as HIV infections.

Using the case of Kenya, the First Lady said girls are hindered in their pursuit of education by very many barriers among them the distance between their homes and learning institutions and financial limitations that constrain many families causing young girls to stay at home to cater for their siblings.

Harmful practices such as early marriages and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) are the other impediments to girl child education cited by the Kenyan First Lady.

“We work hard to find practical solutions similar to this program to ensure the young teenagers do not drop out of school. We encourage communities to reintegrate young mothers and send them back to school,” the First Lady said adding that Kenya needs to take lessons from the Jamaican learning model for adolescent mothers.

The First Lady who was hosted at the centre by Lady Allen Patrick, the spouse of the Governor General of Jamaica and accompanied by Sports Minister Olivia Grange said there are millions of vulnerable girls across the world who need help towards achieving their dreams in education but hardly get the opportunity and support they deserve to make them achieve their dreams.

“We all want the girl child to have a better future, yet we cannot forget that there are still girls who deserve these opportunities but never get a chance,” First Lady Margaret Kenyatta said.

She applauded her hosts for the innovative program and congratulated current students for their unyielding resilience and for recognizing the importance of education in unlocking their future.

Besides providing education for young mothers, the centre offers intensive counselling on health, family and life education, childcare training and provision of support and referral services for both men and women.

Since the inception of the facility 40 years ago, over 46,000 teenage mothers have successfully gone through the program, some rising to become significant members of the Jamaican society.

“I encourage all you girls here to make the most of this opportunity to nurture your talent and reach for the stars,” First Lady Margaret Kenyatta told the young mothers

She encouraged the teenage mothers to strive for excellence in their academic work and in developing their characters as they pursue dreams to become successful women.

Pwani fm gospel presenter and reporter Ruth Masita has scooped the best presenter of the year East Africa award at the just concluded Injili awards.

The awards were held today in Mombasa.

Ruth managed to win the award after beating 7 other presenters in th category.

She was competing against DK of Lulu Fm, Francis Mandi from Baraka Fm, Captain Lui( Raia Tv,) Mc Fortune( Hope Fm), Kay B ( Kisii Fm), Mc Raph (Kyeni Fm),  Erick Mongare (Sheki Fm) and Selly Kadot (Citizen Radio).

In other catergories, Tanzania's Jembe gospel show won the Reggae gospel Tv show of the year award, Francis Mandi won the Best presenter of the year award, Sharon Nami scooped the new artist of the year ward, Dj Lonez won the Dj of the year award, Flaming Felix scooped the best gospel group of the year award with the best gospel praise and worship artist of the year award going to R. George.

President Uhuru Kenyatta today announced a raft of measures the government is taking to combat cancer including a plan to increase budgetary allocation.

The President made the announcement at the memorial service of the late Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Cherono Laboso held at Bomet Green Stadium in Bomet town. The late leader succumbed to cancer.

The President who was joined at the solemn event by Deputy President Dr William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the budgetary increase is meant to scale up both preventative and curative cancer management services across the country.

Noting that the rising cancer cases in the country are getting out of hand, the Head of State said the government will increase the number of chemotherapy and radiology centres across the country to make the services more accessible.

“We will add three more radiology centres across the country. We will have one in Garissa, another one in Mombasa and the third one in Nakuru,” President Kenyatta announced.

“We will also have 10 more chemotherapy centres in Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Garissa, Nyeri, Nakuru, Meru and Machakos among other counties,” he continued.

The President disclosed that the Moi Teaching and Referal Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret will be upgraded to become a centre of excellence for cancer treatment and training for upcoming medical professionals in oncology so that they can help in the fight against the disease.

“The ultra-modern Kenyatta University Hospital will be opened next month. This also will have a facility for treating cancer. We will add two more centres of excellence for the treatment of cancer – one in Kisii and another one in Nyeri which will be ready by next year,” the President said.

To enhance the human resource capacity to deal with the scourge, the President revealed that the government is currently training 20 cancer doctors, 28 clinical officers and 31 radiologists.

“When these complete their training, we will take more for training so that all these centres will have young specialists who will be able to help our people manage this disease,” he said.

The Head of State assured the residents of Bomet County that by September this year the government will have set up a chemotherapy centre at Longisa Hospital.

As the Government works to increase access to cancer treatment in the country, the President advised Kenyans to pay special attention to their lifestyles especially the foods they consume.

He noted that cancer is largely a lifestyle disease and advised Kenyans to reduce the intake of processed foods and go back to eating traditional wholesome foods.

“We need to start looking into some of these things and get back to the basics because this disease was not as widespread in the past as it is now. Our life style is not what it was in the past. So we need to look at what is it that we do today that our forefathers never did that is causing this disease to spread," he said.

Deputy President Ruto described the late Bomet Governor as a courageous and brave leader.

“Not many men could compete against Isaac Rutto let alone women. But Joyce’s decision to take on Isaac Rutto on a political duel confirmed to me the phrase that what men can do, women can do better,” the DP Ruto said.

He said exemplary performance by late governor confirmed that women are equal to the leadership task when given the opportunity.

Dr Ruto said going forward, Kenyans should give more women leaders a chance saying, "they have demonstrated, beyond doubt, their capabilities that they can lead".

Former PM Raila Odinga urged Kenyans to shun tribalism and corruption, saying the late Bomet Governnor has left behind an enduring legacy that should be emulated.

Other speakers included Council of Governors Chairman and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Kericho Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony, National Assembly Majority Leader Adan Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen.
