Celebrated social activist and queen of Kenyan radio Adelle Onyango, is among the seven-team youth advisory group that will play an important role in shaping the conversation at the upcoming Goal Keepers Conference. 
 
"It’s an annual conference where conversations around acceleration to achieving the SDGs are had," Adelle said, "It’s really a catalyst for action and brings leaders from around the world, from various fields together to share what’s working, what’s not, what needs improvement and what are the solutions." 
 
Last year’s speakers included: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former President Barack Obama, Nobel Peace Prize winners Leymah Gbowee and Malala Yousafzai. 
 
Adelle continued, "I’m excited to be on the youth advisory group! We have a series of brainstorms to really make sure the conversations we have at the conference especially in reference to the youth, are a good representative of issues affecting youth globally. We also brainstorm on who are the right speakers to have and structure of conversations!"
 
Adelle who is representing Kenya is joined in the youth advisory group by other young visionaries from different countries like Nigeria, India, America among others. 
 
How does it feel to to be part of such a noble initiative? 
 
"I think it’s important for me, because as young Africans, we must be part of conversations that will affect us and part of building our own solutions that we can implement onground," Adelle said. 
 
She emphasize that the issues that need to ne highlighted include "Education, it has become very important. Access to education that is relevant to present day applications and dynamic changes. Also creating environments that allow young people to create businesses with less harsher barriers than what is on the ground at present. Finally, youth leadership in the areas that can enable us to be part of policy creation."

The supremacy battle between Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi is taking shape, just days after Kingi hosted 21 Mps in Kilifi, Joho is also expected to play host to all MCAs from the region.

According to a message sent to the MCAs and seen by Ommy Dallah the meeting will be held this coming Friday,10/08/2018.

"Dear Hon, this is to inform you that H.E the Governor Joho will meet all the Coast Province MCAs on this Friday the 10/08/2018. Time and venue shall be communicated later. kindly note this in your diary" reads the message.

Among the Mps who attended Kingi's meeting includes Omar Mwinyi (Changamwe), William Kamoti (Rabai), Ruweda Obo (Lamu woman rep), Ken Chonga (Kilifi South), Kassim Tandaza (Matuga), Andrew Mwadime (Mwatate), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), Paul Katana (Kaloleni), Shariff Ali (Lamu East) and Said Haba (Galole), Ali Wario (Garsen), Getrud Mbeyu (Kilifi woman rep), Ali Wario (Bura), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), Jones Mlolwa  (Voi), Suleiman Dori (Msambweni), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi), Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Ali Mbogo (Kisauni), Owen Baya (Kilifi North) and  Michael Kingi (Magarini).

In the meeting the legislators announced that they be reviving the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani, they also took issue with threats from ODM to discpline Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni Suleiman Dori over their allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto.

“We are following keenly on the development. If ODM acts on the MPs, it will affect the building of bridges. We shall not take this one lightly,” said Kingi.

Coast-based Kenya Premier League side Bandari Football Club has sacked Salim Sumra as the team's board member.

According to a source within the club, Sumra will be served with his release letter during the Tuesday premier league match against defending champions Gor Mahia.   

The  source also revealed that  the meeting to sack Sumra was chaired  by the football club chief executive officer Edward Oduor.

"The full house meeting unanimously resolved to sack him on allegations he is behind the club's poor performance and for insulting players and being unfriendly to them" said the source   

Meanwhile Bandari Football Club has released gate charges for the Gor Mahia match with each spectator required to pay Sh 200. Security will also be beefed up before and after the match.

The Mombasa International Cultural festival which had been scheduled for 23rd to 26th August has now been postponed to a later date.

According to a public notice from the County Executive in charge of Youth, Gender, sports and Cultural affairs Munywoki Kyalo, the extravaganza has been postponed due to 'unavoidable circumstances'.

"We regret to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Mombasa International Cultural festival that due to unavoidable circumstances, the extravaganza scheduled for the 23rd to 26th of August 2018 has been postponed to a later date that will be communicated" reads the notice.

Ommy Dallah has however established that power struggle between the departments of culture and tourism all under the Youth, Gender, Sports and cultural affairs ministry and which have since been separated is the main reason for the postponement.

The two departments each with its own Chief officer have been fighting on who to host  the event.

"There has been alot of infighting on who to take charge of the event between the two departments but lets just wait and see how things will turn out" said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Keri Hilson enjoying her stay in kenya

RnB singer, songwriter and actress Keri Hilson is in town. She together with the Man’s Not Hot hitmaker Big Shaq, legendary Horace Brown, WSTRN and Bobby V will be performing this weekend at the Terminal music concert.

Local artiste among the Khaligraph Jones, Sage, Steph Kapela, Kagwe Mugai, Barak Jaccuzi. The Friday show is dubbed Grown And Sexy for a mature audience while the Saturday show is dubbed UK Grime meets Kenyan Hip Hop.

The show will see Kenya’s biggest DJs jazz the crowd with their sick mixes. Djs headlining the events are DJ Stylez, Pinye, Adrian, Mixmaster Lenny and G Money. DJ Joe Grinds from the UK will also grace the event.

On her stay here,Keri Hilson visited The Kenya High School to the amazement of the students who couldn’t get enough of the artiste.

Keri also spent her time interacting with girls from Kibera Creative Arts where she participated in bead making.

She wrote, “Day 1 in Kenya was AWESOME!!! I inspired 1,000 girls, made bracelets with @kiberacreativearts that provides a living & opportunity for the underdeveloped community, learned the Kenyan Odi dance (& some Swahili), & received welcome gifts from young locals.”

A high court in Mombasa has sentenced Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi to four years in prison or a fine of Sh1 million after he was found guilty of assaulting two police officers.

The incident occurred last year during the ODM party nominations.

According to Chief Magistrate Evans Makori on Thursday there is enough evidence that the Mp together with  his supporters assaulted the two police officers namely constables Dennis Nambisia and Agapio Ndwiga.

Mwiniyi was accused together  with others not before the court of destroying ODM ballot boxes at Mwidani Social Hall, Bomu Primary and Al-Inshadi Nursery School polling stations on April 22.

The Mp has however vowed to appeal the ruling arguing it (ruling)  is due to his political stand.

Fly Tristar airline, a newly launched low costing airline is set to launch its early morning flight in and out of Mombasa.

The airline will be the first low cost airline to operate a morning flight to and from Mombasa , currently only the national carrier Kenya Airways has the service.

Speaking in Mombasa  during the firm's official launch cocktail the airline CEO Daniel Muriithi noted that the decision was reached at after numerous parties especially business men who are the main target for the new service.

"Fly Tristar Service is committed to offer unrivalled, reliable air service to make it easier to fly" said Muriithi

He also revealed that they are also planning to start regional flights to Entebbe (Uganda), Somalia and Mwanza (Tanzania) and are currently in talks with the relevant authorities in the countries.

Currently,the airline which operates Fokker 50s has put onto the market 4000 seats that are available from this month of July all the way to January 2019 at discounted price of sh 4,333.

Police in Mombasa are investigating an incident where a prison warden shot an inspectorate officer yesterday(Tuesday) evening.

Samuel Mwita shot Patrick Omondi with the bullet penetrating the ear and neck. Omondi was later treated at the Coast General Hospital and discharged.

According to the Mombasa County Inspectorate Director Mohamed Amir said trouble started after Mwita committed a traffic offence and turned hostile.

Mombasa Police Boss has assured that the investigations will not be interfered with and the findings will be out by tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
