Rising Kenyan-born artist based in Amsterdam, Dunia Wamaitha (formerly known as Dunia), has released a new single “Have Some Fun (Not the One)” available now via Sol Generation Publishing and streaming across all major platforms.

The new single written by Dunia Wamaitha celebrates joy, confidence and choosing yourself, without apology. It captures the spirit of feeling powerful, sensual and grounded even through life’s challenges, all wrapped in an irresistible, replay-ready melody.

Dunia is a creative force with roots deeply intertwined with Nairobi’s cultural soundscape, drawing influence from Kenya’s celebrated musical heritage, including the iconic band Sauti Sol, while carving a distinct artistic identity of her own.

Blending Afropop rhythms with an uplifting dance groove, “Have Some Fun (Not the One)” introduces Dunia as a bold, refreshing voice shaping her own lane. Produced by celebrated Kenyan musician and producer Savara, the track pairs his unmistakable sonic flair with Dunia’s warm, charismatic vocals and empowering songwriting.

Dunia’s relationship with music began early. She recalls creating bedtime rhymes as a toddler and declaring, at just four years old, that she wanted to become a musician. As she grew, performing in professional musicals strengthened her vocal confidence and deepened her passion for the craft. She says that her studio experience with Savara, filled with laughter, synergy and effortless creativity, further affirmed her desire to create music that uplifts and inspires.

Speaking on the new single, Dunia shares: “My goal was to make a song that empowers listeners to feel sexy and powerful, no matter what they’re going through. It blends pop and Afro elements and expresses my desire to embody both logic and intuition, embracing my femininity while staying strategic and independent. It’s about being unapologetically myself and finding empowerment through balance.”

Dunia is also an actress. Over time, she has learned to embrace her sensitivity to the world around her as a strength, one that guides her toward intentional, honest expression.

With “Have Some Fun (Not the One)”, Dunia marks a powerful new chapter—one that signals more music, deeper storytelling and new artistic explorations to come in 2026. Through her art, Dunia seeks to create spaces where people can tap into their confidence, fullness and personal freedom. Her mission is to inspire listeners of all genders to embrace who they are with clarity, strength and authenticity.

betPawa Leverages Short Game Cycles to Drive Long-Term Engagement

In today’s digital entertainment landscape, attention is the most valuable currency. Players are no longer looking for experiences that demand long commitments or steep learning curves; they want games that fit naturally into their daily lives. This shift has given rise to a powerful engagement model built around short game cycles, and betPawa betPawa is leading the way in turning these quick interactions into sustained, long-term participation.

Short Cycles, Stronger Connections

Short game cycles are defined by quick entry, fast outcomes, and immediate feedback. Instead of extended sessions that require uninterrupted time, players can engage for a few minutes, step away, and return whenever they choose.

Through its exclusive partnership with Black Lagoon, betPawa has strengthened this model by offering Spinner-style games designed specifically for fast, repeatable play. These games reflect betPawa’s wider philosophy: accessibility, repetition, and ease rather than intensity or complexity. This approach removes friction and makes engagement feel effortless, an essential factor in markets where players balance entertainment with busy, mobile-first lifestyles.

Why Repeat Play Matters More Than Session Length

Traditional thinking in online gaming often prioritized long sessions as a marker of success. Today, that metric is evolving. Consistent, repeat engagement over time has proven to be a far stronger indicator of player satisfaction and loyalty.

By supporting games built around short, repeatable cycles, such as the familiar Spinner formats developed with Black Lagoon, betPawa encourages players to engage more frequently, play at their own pace, and build familiarity and confidence over time.

This rhythm creates a sustainable relationship between player and platform, one rooted in enjoyment, not pressure.

Designed for Everyday Moments

One of the biggest advantages of short game cycles is how seamlessly they integrate into real life. Players no longer need to “set aside time” to play. Instead, gaming becomes something that fits between moments during a break, while commuting, or when winding down.

betPawa’s platform is structured to support this kind of spontaneous interaction. Spinner games load quickly, are easy to understand, and deliver outcomes without delay, allowing players to jump in and out without disruption.

Building Loyalty Through Experience, Not Hype

Long-term engagement isn’t created through one-time excitement. It’s built through trust, reliability, and positive experiences repeated over time.

By centering its ecosystem around short game cycles, betPawa has created an environment where players feel in control of their time, their pace, and their participation. This sense of ownership is what transforms casual interaction into lasting loyalty.

Ready to experience it for yourself?

Explore the Spinner games available on betPawa today and see how short, engaging game cycles fit seamlessly into your everyday moments of play.

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has announced that he will soon release an exclusive book documenting his investigative journalism journey during the popular Jicho Pevu era, promising to reveal untold stories behind some of Kenya’s most high-risk exposés.

In a new year statement, Ali said the book will offer readers a rare behind-the-scenes account of the fear, pressure and difficult choices that shaped his work before joining politics.

"For those who have persistently asked to relive my Jicho Pevu days, I am happy to let you know that an exclusive book detailing my investigative journey and politics is coming out in a few months,” he said.

The legislator noted that the book, which is currently with the editor, captures the intense moments that defined his career as an investigative journalist, including the risks involved and the personal cost of pursuing hard truths.

He said he chose to be fully open in narrating his experiences.

“This book gives a window into all the chaos, fear and excitement that went into the high-risk investigations I undertook, and the choices I made thereafter,” Ali stated, adding that he “left no story untold and laid it all bare” for readers.

Ali expressed confidence that the publication will resonate with Kenyans who followed his work and those interested in media, accountability and politics.

He described the book as both a reflection and a record of a defining chapter in his life.

“I hope readers will enjoy reading it and better understand the journey that shaped who I am today,” he said, reigniting public interest in the investigative work that made Jicho Pevu a household name.

Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy Salim Mvurya has slammed the opposition, accusing them of lacking a clear agenda for Kenya and engaging in politics of rhetoric instead of offering solutions to challenges facing wananchi.

He said leaders seeking national office must demonstrate responsibility, accountability and a genuine commitment to national unity and development.

Speaking at the Wachangamwe Cultural festival in Mombasa, Mvurya questioned the credibility of some opposition figures eyeing the presidency, saying they still owe Kenyans answers over unresolved cases involving missing youths.

“Some of those in the opposition who are saying they want to be president still have serious questions to answer. We lost many of our youths in the past, and up to today, Kenyans have never been told where they are or what happened to them,” said Mvurya.

The CS expressed confidence in President William Ruto’s leadership, saying the Head of State means well for Kenyans and deserves a second term to fully implement his development agenda.

“President William Ruto means well for this country and is working tirelessly to improve the lives of Kenyans. He deserves a second term so that he can continue delivering on his promises,” Mvurya said, adding that the government remains focused on empowering youth, growing the creative economy and driving inclusive development.

Mombasa County Executive Committee Member in charge of Blue Economy, Agriculture and Livestock, Ibrahim Khamis, has called for urgent protection of the ocean, warning that continued pollution threatens marine life and the county’s economic future.

He noted that nearly 75 per cent of the world is covered by water, stressing the need to better utilise marine resources through sustainable fishing while safeguarding the environment.

Speaking at an education forum organised by the Wachangmwe Community association, Khamis said his priority is to ensure clean beaches and a healthy ocean, warning that pollution and poor waste disposal are threatening marine life.

He observed that continued dumping of waste into the ocean could eventually destroy an important natural and economic resource.

“When our beaches and ocean are dirty, there will be no marine life. If we continue this way, we risk losing the ocean altogether,” he said, adding that protecting the marine ecosystem is essential for food security and livelihoods.

"All the waste from our households is ending up in the ocean, and this must stop. We need collective action to protect our marine environment." he noted.

The CEC also challenged women and youth in Mombasa to take advantage of opportunities within the blue economy by joining Beach Management Units (BMUs).

He noted that in regions such as Nyanza, women and young people are already taking the lead in fishing-related activities and earning sustainable incomes.

Khamis said the sector holds significant economic opportunities and pledged to promote inclusion, empowerment and greater participation of women and youth in fisheries and marine-based enterprises.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has today arrested two traffic police officers attached to the Diani Traffic Base for allegedly demanding bribes from motorists along the Likoni-Lungalunga road.

The arrest follows an investigation mounted by the EACC after receiving numerous complaints from motorists and members of the public regarding rampant extortion by the officers.

During the operation, the officers were found soliciting and demanding bribes from motorists, often without conducting any vehicle checks or enforcing traffic regulations.

Those apprehended are Police Constable Agnes Longoet and Police Constable Alphanus Anayo.

The suspects were arrested and taken to the EACC Lower Coast Regional Office in Mombasa for statement recording and further processing.

"The operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on bribery on Kenyan major roads during the festive season. The Commission is scaling up intelligence gathering and surveillance targeting essential public services and sectors prone to bribery." reads a statement from EACC

Popular Mombasa stand-up comedian Abdallah Moi, whose real name was Basheck Abdallah, has died.

The entertainer passed away on Tuesday at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, triggering an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow creatives across the Coast region.

Abdallah Moi rose to fame for his spot-on mimicry of former President Daniel arap Moi, a performance style that earned him his stage name and endeared him to audiences countrywide.

His humour, often drawn from politics and everyday coastal life, set him apart and made him a familiar face at comedy shows and community events.

Tributes have continued to pour in, with colleagues describing him as a gifted performer whose talent brought joy and laughter to many.

His death marks a significant loss to Mombasa’s entertainment scene and the wider creative industry, where his legacy will be remembered through the smiles he created.

Tears flowed freely and emotions ran high at Moi International Airport, Mombasa, as the body of Karisa Laini Kalama finally touched home soil.

The quiet of grief wrapped his family and friends, each tear carrying the weight of a journey that began in hope and ended in heartbreak. For the young man from Ziwa la Ng’ombe in Nyali Constituency, the long road back home was a painful reminder of dreams cut short far away from home.

Kalama, who died last month in Dubai, had been working as a delivery rider, hustling day and night in pursuit of a better life.  His life was tragically cut short in a road accident while on duty, leaving his family thousands of miles away grappling with shock, sorrow, and uncertainty. In the days that followed his death, grief was compounded by the daunting task of bringing him back home.

He had secured the job in Dubai through the government’s Kazi Majuu program, an initiative meant to open up overseas employment opportunities for Kenyan youth. His family said he had been hopeful that the opportunity would transform their lives, making his sudden death even more painful as it came while he was pursuing a future promised through the program.

Amid the pain, a light of compassion emerged. Said Abdallah 'Saido' stepped in to help facilitate the repatriation of Kalama’s body, easing a burden no family should bear alone.

As the casket arrived in Mombasa, it was not just a return of remains, but a final homecoming one marked by tears, prayers, and gratitude for a kindness that ensured Karisa Laini Kalama would rest among his own.

“Our hearts are heavy, but we find comfort knowing he is finally home. Karisa left seeking a better future for us, and though his journey ended too soon, his love, sacrifice, and memories will live with me forever.” said a family representative.

His death has also reignited conversations about the risks faced by migrant workers seeking opportunities abroad, often in demanding and dangerous jobs. Friends described Kalama as hardworking, humble, and determined to uplift his family, a dream that now lives on only in memory.

“This is a painful loss for the family and for all of us. Karisa left home with hope, just like many young people seeking a better future. I only did what was humanly possible to ensure he returned home with dignity. May God give his family strength during this very difficult time.” said Said Abdallah
