Is He The Next KPA MD?

Former Kenya Ports Authority [KPA] General manager for corporate services Justus Omae Nyarandi has emerged top among six shortlisted candidates interviewed for the position of KPA Managing Director.

The position became vacant after former MD Daniel Manduku resigned March last year (2020).

Nyarandi is currently the Executive Secretary of the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) based in Mombasa county.

According to a reliable source, former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission [IEBC] chief executive officer [CEO] Ezra Chiloba came second during the interview conducted by a panel of interviewers led by KPA board of directors chairman Joseph Kibwana.

The interview which took place last week at KPA headquarters saw former Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport Corridor chief executive officer Silvester Kasuku becoming third at the end of the three day exercise.

The three names have already been forwarded to Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani who is expected to recommend the appointee to be approved by the Head of State before the end of next week.

Northern Corridor Transport Transit and Transport Coordination Authority [NCTTA] Executive Secretary Justus Nyarandi(centre) chats with East African Community and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed and principal secretary Dr. Margaret W. Mwakima during the launch of an awareness campaign for truck drivers against the spread of the corona virus and stigmatization along the northern corridor.

Other candidates who had been shortlisted for the fresh interviews are former KPA General Manager in charge of Kisumu port Sudi Mwasingo who has now been  transferred back to his former post as General Manager Operation and Harbour master to take over from Captain William Ruto, former Principal Secretary at the Gender Ministry Mwanamaka Mabruki who previously worked at the port, former NSSF Managing Trustee-turned-politician Alex Kazongo who served as KPA General manager finance and little known Jimmy Ziro.

In previous interviews three candidates who had passed the short-listing stage failed to meet the required 70 percent mark to clinch the post forcing the government to repeat the whole process.

The KPA board was forced to go back to the drawing board after Yatani ordered a repeat of the recruitment exercise for Manduku’s successor.

It has also emerged that there was no age limit for the applicants to fill the post at the port which is perceived to be a cash cow for the 2022 general elections.

In his response Mutua said "“Embarambamba on the Trend on NTV, says his theatrics are because of poverty. He's asking for help. Bro come, let's talk. You don't have to do this madness for likes on social media. Come let's find a way out. You sound ok, but your theatrics are embarrassing & must be moderated,”

Few days ago, Mutua took to social media calling for someone to help Embarambamba raising concern over his safety.

“I have a feeling that Embarambara is a danger to himself and that his fans could be cheering him to self-destruction. Is this style sustainable? Is it even sane? Unless he’s superhuman, this guy will hurt himself. Someone, please stop him!” he tweeted.

Nigerian singer-songwriter Tay Iwar has dropped his hotly anticipated new EP ‘Love & Isolation’, out 16th April 2021.

Amidst a chaotic world forced into lockdown, ‘Love & Isolation’ is a deeply personal EP and an ode to self-healing.

The release sees Tay produce three of its five tracks, with Jeffrey Rashad and Insightful co-producing the other two.

The new EP also signifies a sonic shift for Tay towards a more romance-tinged R&B vibe, with opener and new single “YOGA” feat. Asa, a smooth, seductive slow jam, perfectly encapsulating this.

“STONES” feat. Xenia Manasseh is a more sombre, heartfelt affair, as is the downbeat charm of “FEEL” feat. Lou Val & Insightful.

Next up is the reflective but majestic ballad “THINKING” before recent single “PEAKING” closing things out with the kind of energy that typifies the EP - smooth, soulful and emotionally driven.

‘Love & Isolation’ is a mature, contemplative release, representing a new chapter in the ever-diversifying story of Tay Iwar.

Tay says, “Love & Isolation is the transition from an era to another era for me,” explaining, “There's almost nothing linking this project to the last one, besides me, the artist because this is a slow style, more romantic than I’ve ever done before.

The intention is for people to feel and tap into yourself. It’s a perfect self-healing EP post-pandemic.”

Dubbed ‘Nigeria’s most reclusive musician’ by OkayAfrica, Tay Iwar is an artist, singer-songwriter, sound engineer and record producer who shot to fame in 2014 with acclaimed debut EP ‘Passport’.

A key player in the nation’s alté scene, he followed this up with his debut album ‘Gemini’ in 2019, released in partnership with Soulection, and ‘Gold’, the 8-track collaborative EP alongside Le Mav.

Having since produced and featured on tracks for Odunsi (The Engine), Lady Donli, Santi and Juls to name a few, the Nigerian has received support from Complex, Clash, Beats1 Radio and Rinse FM among several prominent platforms.
