Bongo sensation Ali Kiba has just dropped his latest single titled 'Hela', however the interesting part is that the video of the song was produced and directed by Mombasa based production house Above the rim.

The production house is owned by radio presenters Gates Mgenge, Chris Da Bass, artist Susumila Dj  Dan Bruce and Riley Hhd.

Speaking to Ommydallah, Gates revealed that apart from  the 'Hela' video they have also produced several others for local artists including Susumila, Dazalah among others.

"We are the ones who shot the video through our video director Mac Choka, we even scouted for the location and dancers . It was shot in Kashani and Shanzu" revealed Gates.

"What we are doing is making sure that our local artists are also able to get  quality videos and for as less as kshs 30,000 an artist can get a video like that of Ali Kiba. I can say we are fully equipped" he added

Hela is an unofficial release from Kiba that is dedicated to his dancer Emmanuel Elias who passed away recently.

"Emmanuel loved this sing and would always dance to it during our dancing rehearsals. I have released this song as a dedication to him and to thank him for working with me. May our Lord rest his soul in peace" says Ali Kiba

Former Tanzanian President Ali Hassan Mwinyi is expected to be in Mombasa this weekend.

The former head of state who is expected to arrive in Mombasa on Saturday  will also be visiting Malindi on the invitation of Majmaul Ahbaab Society to attend the two-day annual Maulid celebrations at Mambrui(Malindi).

The two-day event is in remembrance of past Muslim leaders and prominent  Islamic scholars and their great work. 
    
The grand celebration will be on Monday where there will be a visit to the grave site of the late Al-Mujaahidu Al-Kabir and Sharrif Said Al Beid. The two scholars played a major role in the spread of Islam and the message of peace and unity in East Africa.
 
Among the dignitaries expected to attend the event are Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, Kwale Senator Issa Boy and his Kilifi counterpart Stewart Madzayo.
 
Mwinyi served as the second President of Tanzania from 1985 to 1995
 
 

Ahead of their anticipated Kenyan concert slated for Saturday 6th Oct 2018 in Nairobi hosted by Kenya Nights, as part of their ongoing Africa Tour; Major Lazer debuts a new song “Loyal” featuring Jamaican singer Kranium and Nigerian artist Kizz Daniel.

The song comes accompanied by the fourth visual collaboration between Major Lazer and South African director Adriaan Louw.

Loyal” is the final collaboration from Major Lazer showcasing African artists, following “Tied Up” featuring Mr. Eazi and Raye, “Orkant/Balance Pon It” featuring South African singer Babes Wodumo and “All My Life” featuring Nigerian vocalistBurna Boy.

Major Lazer also recently debuted a brand new Afrobeats Mix, which blends music from across the continent and lends their global platform to trendsetting African artists and their longtime inspirations and collaborators, as well as teasing new music—listen here.

Furthermore, the band is set to tour Africa in September and October, with dates in South AfricaMalawiKenya and Uganda.

Starting with World Rhino Day, Major Lazer has teamed up with VETPAW (Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife) to help raise awareness about the poaching crisis. While in Africa, Major Lazer will visit the VETPAW headquarters to participate in anti-poaching missions alongside veterans and learn more about ways to combat poaching in South Africa and beyond.

“All My Life” follows collaborations with Cashmere Cat, Tory Lanez and Rudimental and 2017’s critically acclaimed Know No Better EP.

 

 

Vivo Energy Kenya pitched tent in the coastal region to market and distribute shell branded fuels and lubricants in a sensitization campaign.

 The company’s Marketing and Customer Care Manager, Mark Senteu, said the one-day sensitisation campaign aims to educate motorists in the coastal region on fuel efficiency, engine maintenance and performance.

 He added that the launch is part and parcel of the company’s fuel efficiency campaign and the launching of a new Shell Station in the region.

 “The campaign dubbed “Dynaflex Tour” is coupled-up with a move to strengthen Vivo Energy’s footprint and market share in the coastal region with the official opening of a new Shell service station at Ukunda in Kwale County,” he pointed out.

 Senteu said the launch follows the introduction of new Shell fuels in the market: Shell V-Power, Shell FuelSave Diesel and Shell FuelSave.

 He spoke at Sega Shell petrol station in Mvita , Mombasa  during an educative session for motorists which coincided with the launch of new fuel station at Ukunda.   

 The company Marketing officer said unleaded all formulated fuel with the firm’s Dynaflex Technology was meant to increase engine efficiency, improve fuel cleanliness and enhance overall engine performance.

 Senteu assured motorists the company is committed to sensitising motorists on engine maintenance and proper fuel options for improved engine performance and efficiency.

He said the education sessions for motorists in Mombasa and Kwale counties are part of their on-going Go Well campaign that will see them provide information on simple but effective ways of maintaining and optimising the use of motor vehicle engines for improved performance and longevity.

He added: “Shell is a trusted brand across the continent, a reputation that has been solidified by an evolving product portfolio built on a research-based, consumer-centric approach and cutting-edge technology offering quality solutions for our modern-day consumer.”

 “In today’s session, Mombasa and Kwale residents will gain valuable information to enhance their engines’ output.” he pointed out.

 The company official told journalists they will continue to invest in innovation as well as in an expansion programme to meet the growing demand for its range of Shell products.

 Senteu further told journalists their vision is to become Africa’s most respected energy business pointing out that Vivo Energy, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, was established in 2011.

 He added that the company operates and markets its products in countries across North, West, East and Southern Africa.

“The Group has a network of over 1,800 service stations in 15 countries and exports lubricants to a number of other African countries. Its retail offering includes fuels, lubricants, card services, shops and other non-fuel services (oil change and car wash),” he said.

The company official disclosed that they provide fuels, lubricants and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to business customers across a range of sectors including marine, mining, and manufacturing. Jet fuel is sold to customers at 23 airports through a partnership with Vitol Aviation.

Senteu revealed the company employs around 2,360 people, operates over 1,800 retail service stations under the Shell brand and has access to approximately 900,000 cubic metres of fuel storage capacity.

He said Shell and Vivo Lubricants has a blending capacity of around 124,000 metric tonnes at plants in six countries (Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco and Tunisia) producing Shell branded lubricants.

Wahenga walisema muda ni ukuta hauwezi kushindana nao, na hii inakuja kujionesha hata katika maisha ya kawaida kadri muda unavyozidi kwenda vitu kama mitindo, teknolojia na hata ladha ya muziki nayo inabadilika, lakini sio kwa msanii wa muziki wa Bongo Fleva, King Kiba.

Alikiba bado anaamini kuwa nyimbo zake za zamani alizowahi kuziachia iwe kwa kuvujisha au kuziachia mtandaoni, kwa muda huo zinaweza kutumika tena na ku-hit jambo ambalo sio baya kwa msanii lakini kwa mtu mkubwa kama Alikiba huo ni uvivu.

Hebu turudi nyuma kidogo, Alikiba kwa miaka mingi alikuwa kimya kwenye muziki lakini mwaka 2014 aliporudi kwenye gemu na kuanza kutoa nyimbo kama Mwana (2014), Chekecha Cheketua (2015), Aje (2016), Seduce Me (2017) na Nagharamia watu wengi walianza kumuelewa na aliongeza mashabiki wapya ambao kwa miaka 2006 wakati anafanya vizuri wengi walikuwa ni wadogo kiumri.

Kutokana na ukubwa wa nyimbo hizo alizoachia kwa miaka mitatu mashabiki wengi wapya walianza kumfuatilia na kuamini kuwa wapo upande sahihi, lakini sio kwa mwaka 2018.

Kwa mwaka huu 2018 Alikiba umewakosea mashabiki wako wapya na hata baadhi ya mashabiki wako wa zamani, kwani nyimbo zote tatu hakuwa wimbo uliopokelewa vizuri kama zile ulizoachia miaka mitatu ya nyuma.

Wimbo kama Mvumo wa Radi sidhani kama unaweza ukaufananisha na Mwana, au wimbo kama Maumivu Per Day unaweza ukaufananisha na Aje au pengine wimbo wake mpya wa Hela unaweza ukaufananisha na Seduce Me.

Hii ni ishara tosha Alikiba kwa mwaka huu umewaangusha mashabiki wako, ngoma zote ulizotoa zimepokelewa kawaida sana.

Na, pengine huenda asiwe yeye peke yake aliyetoa nyimbo za kawaida kwa mwaka huu lakini, tunakuzungumzia yeye kutokana na ukubwa wa jina lake ‘KING KIBA’.

Achilia mbali, mashabiki wengi wa Alikiba ni wakubwa kimri kuanzia miaka 25 na kuendelea, lakini hiyo isimfanye Alikiba kubweteka na kutoa nyimbo za kawaida kama Mvumo wa Radi, Hela na Maumivu per Day.

Nyimbo kama Hela na Maumivu Per Day zote Alikiba alishawahi kuziachia mtandaoni miaka ya nyuma na zimesikilizwa hadi watu wakazichoka, sasa ni uvivu gani hadi akaamua kuziachia tena ile hali anajua muziki wa sasa unahitaji ubunifu wa hali ya juu ili usikilizwe zaidi.

Alikiba ni msanii mwenye kila sifa ya kuitwa msanii mkubwa, anauwezo wa kuandika nyimbo na kabarikiwa sauti, sasa ni kitu gani kinachomfanya mpaka arudie nyimbo kama Maumivu Per Day na Hii aliyoichia leo ya Hela? bila shaka ni uvivu.

Kwa jinsi muziki wa sasa ulivyo kiushindani, Alikiba usitegemee mashabiki wako wapya watashindwa kukushambulia endapo utaendelea kutowatendea haki kwa kuachia nyimbo za kawaida au kurudia nyimbo za zamani.

Leo, Alikiba ameachia wimbo wake aliyouita mpya wa ‘HELA’ ambao kiukweli sio mpya ni wimbo wa miaka mitatu iliyopita na hata kipindi hicho haukuwa mkali kivile, sasa kwanini unakuja kuurudia mwaka 2018?

Mimi naamini Alikiba unauwezo mkubwa kwenye muziki, watendee haki mashabiki wako kwani hao ndio wanaoumia zaidi na bila wao wewe si kitu.

Kwa mwaka huu sitaki kuamini kuwa kitendo cha kujiingiza kwenye soka kimepelekea ushuke kimuziki HAPANA. Naamini umebweteka kwa vile unajua una uwezo ukubwa bila kukumbuka kuna msemo usemao “HARDWORK BEATS TALENT”.

Otile Brown has yet again suffered a major blow after his new video featuring Tanzania's Aslay 'Nikupe' was pulled down by you tube.

According to a message from you tube, the video violated their terms of service.

"Video unavailable, This video has been removed for violating YouTube's Terms of Service." reads the message.
 
Otile Brown has however not yet commented about the issue.
 
This is not the first time that his video has been pulled down by you tube, early this year his video featuring Sanaipei Tande 'Chaguo la Moyo' was pulled down during its peak, when it had reached 1.4 million views, this was due to copyright issues, it was however reuploaded and currently enjoys over 7 million views.
 

The Port of Mombasa has been ranked number 114 among the world's best 120 best ports that handle container cargo.

This is one step ahead of 2016 when it was ranked at position 115 worldwide.

The annual ranking is conducted by a reputable shipping magazine,Container Magazine .

Speaking at the Port of Mombasa, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Head of Corporate Affairs Mr Benard Osero said that the latest ranking now puts the Mombasa of Mombasa at position 6 in Africa and 1st position in East and Central Africa .

Ports listed in the Container Magazine are those that  have attained well over 1 million TEUS annualy.

'' This is a laudable move and goes to show the steady and tremendous growth that the Port of Mombasa has been undergoing after a number of infrastructural upgrades,'' Osero said.

In the listing, Mombasa Port handled 1.1 million TEUs in 2017 up from 1.09 million TEUs , a 9 per cent growth  .

''This percentage increment was better than what the best performing Port in the World- the Port of Shangai in China which had 30 million TEUs in the latest rankings,'' Osero said.

He added that other best performing Ports in Africa included Tanger Med Port in Morocco  which handled 3.3 million TEUs, Durban (South Africa ) did 2.6 million TEUs and Lagos Nigeria that made it into the list for the first time clocking 1.5 million TEUs in 2017.

Africa's other best performing Ports are Alexandria and Port Said both in Egypt.

Osero spoke on the sidelines of the Customer Service Week which are being observed for one week.

The event is an annual global occasion which is celebrated during the first week of October when customer oriented, organisations and institutions around the world  recognize  the importance of customer  service excellence and the staff who serve the customer.

KPA Acting Managing Director, Dr Arch.Daniel Manduku while addressing KPA staff at the firm's Headquarters yesterday said that to mark the global event, KPA has come up with a slogan 'You are Important ' shall be organising a series of events to demonstrate customer centric attitude.

KPA Head of Container Operations, Mr Paul Bor represented the MD at the function.

'' We have organised a road show within the Port's precincts  to help create awareness  on the event  and to motivate KPA employees to remain committed to improving customer satisfaction,'' the MD said.

Fast rising teen singing sensation Leyla, 13, has dropped her first ever single, WimboWaHistoria, a masterful rendition of the famous Kenyan Patriotic song of the same name.

Leyla, who was first spotted by Video Director Sammy Dee,was later recommended her to Peter Chuani (commonly known as DjPinye), a veteran DJ, Producer and Talent Scout credited with spotting and nurturing top Kenyan musical talents like Octopizzo and Elani. Fast forward, and Leyla’s debut single is finally here.

Leyla showcases talent way beyond her years, both in the audio and video. She performs the song with great diction and vocal prowess. It is clear that Whitney Houston is her biggest musical influence.

 

Leyla Biography

Leyla Mohamed is a talented Kenyan Singer, a 13 year old girl (as at October 2018) of Somali origin, born in the year 2005 in Naivasha Town at a place called ‘Kabati’ but now lives in Nairobi’s vast Eastleigh Estate with her single mother.

She comes from a humble background, a small family made up of her mother, who is the sole bread winner, and a male cousin who she fondly calls a big brother as she has known him all her life.

Leyla is currently a standard eight pupil at St. Teresa’s Girls Primary School and is set to sit for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in November 2018.

The young artiste currently calls the Permanent Presidential Music Commission her second home as it is where she is undertaking her vocal classes and also uses the various resources like the audio visual studios at the facility to improve her musical talent to world class standards.

Leyla was first spotted by video director Sammy Dee, who later recommended her to Peter Chuani (commonly known as Dj Pinye), a veteran DJ, Producer and Talent Scout credited with spotting and nurturing top Kenyan musical talents like Octopizzo, Elani and the 2017 Coke Studio Big Break artiste of the year , Band BeCa.

They were shooting one of the episodes of Dj Pinye’s musical shows, Dreams 2 Beats, when Sammy Dee spoke about a talented girl he knows. Pinye got in touch with her mother, he met them, they got acquainted and as they say, the rest is now history.

Her biggest wish is to perform for the President of Kenya and then later represent Kenya on the world stage as a singer 

Leyla describes herself as a sanguine, she is a talkative and jovial girl, her biggest musical influence being the late Whitney Houston, who she grew up listening to on her mother’s favorite radio station, Kiss 100 . She began singing at the age of 3 and has never looked back since then.

She is a great vocalist, doesn’t play any musical instrument at the moment but would love to learn to play the piano when she joins secondary school. Her ambition apart from being a successful musician is to be a pilot.

Her debut single is set to come out in October 2018, which is a rendition of a famous Kenyan Patriotic song known as Wimbo Wa Historia, originally written by Enock Ondego.
