Dorcas Kavata, the mother of Judica kalinga who scored 403 marks in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) can now breathe a sigh relief after Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir came to her rescue.
Nassir has promised to offer full scholarship to Judica as he joins St Brigid's Kimilili Girls High School in Trans Nzoia county.
Judica’s mother Kavata, had previous sought for scholarship from Kwale County, however, was turned away because her records showed she voted in Mombasa County.
Hearing this, Governor Nassir arranged for a meeting with the mother in his office Monday 13th February to assure her of his personal support for Judica.
“Usitie wasiwasi tutamsomesha huyu mtoto kuanzia leo,” said the county boss.
He further added, “If God blesses me with life, then I will continue to support her. She should continue working hard”
Nassir further stated that his office is currently in the process of establishing the Governor’s Scholarship fund to address needy students seeking financial assistance.
Judica’s mother expressed her gratitude to the Governor claiming that she made the right choice in voting for him as the governor and urges him to continue to extend his hand to the needy people in the county.
“I am so grateful to the Governor. He said he will sponsor my daughter throughout high school and university,” she said.
The mother stated that the daughter had great ambitions to become an accountant and declared the opportunity by the county boss to have brought their hopes back to life.
The county boss is widely known for his efforts in prioritizing support for education during his tenure as Mvita MP and now as the Governor of Mombasa County.

Government Announces Construction Of Kwa Jomvu-Miritini Road
Residents of Jomvu and Miritini area are a happy lot after the government announced that a section of the road between Miritini to Kwa Jomvu will be completed before the end of this Month.
Transport and infrastructure cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced on Monday, that On 25 February, the road construction will kick off after completion of compensation processes that had delayed its completion.
“We will be here on February 25 to start Miritini to Kwa Jomvu road, as you know it had stalled because of compensation of squatters, but after meeting the European Union we are soon with the president to come here and launch its completion,” said Murkomen.
Area member of parliament Badi Twalib has raised the concerns when deputy president Rigathi Gachagua visited Jomvu area two weeks ago saying the section of the road has caused a lot of untold suffering to motorists.
“The 700 meters’ section has delayed for a long time, stretching from Bayusuf area to the national transport and safety Authority (NTSA), this section had delayed and Kenya National Highways authority has been delaying we ask with humility, to be completed,” Twalib told deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
Badi said the section of the Mombasa Nairobi highway has delayed for several years forcing huge traffic jams by trucks on the Northern Corridor transit. Residents of the area and public service motorists are the worst hit following the prolonged delays.
“There is a lot of dust coming out when trucks pass by the section that is dusty and untarmacked, if completed then this will change the face of Miritini and Jomvu areas by ensuring the flow of traffic,” said Twalib.
The transport Cs also announced the dualing of Likoni-Lunga Lunga road starting April this year to ensure a good connectivity from the South Coast to the Mainland of Mombasa town.
“In April, we will come to launch the Likoni-Lunga lunga road,”said Murkomen when he toured the Kenya ports Authority on Monday to unveil the new KPA board of management led by chairman Benjamin Tayari.
