The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) yesterday hosted it's first ever iftar bringing together it's staff members , local leaders and stakeholders.
The event held at the KPA Mbaraki Sports grounds was attended by several leaders including Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi, his Lamu counterpart Abdulhakim Aboud, Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki, Mps Omar Mwinyi (Changamwe), Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Mishi Mboko (Likoni) and Ali Mbogo (Kisauni).
The leaders present praised the KPA Managing Director Dr Daniel Manduku for hosting the event.
"I have never witnessed an event like this since i was born, this is the first time and we have to thank you for your efforts bwana MD" said Ali Mbogo.
On his part Changamwe Mp Omar Mwinyi noted "We have had different Managing Directors before, some from the muslim community but they have never done this, this is reccomandable"
Adding"Next time you should also consider giving out envelopes (money) to the workers to accompany the iftar"
The leaders also took the opportunity to address the issue on the alleged privatization of the port insisting they are against it.
"As leaders from the Coast region, all 23 of us including Mps, Women representatives, Senators and Governors have resolved not to support this issue and fight it, it will only happen over our dead bodies" said Ali Mbogo.
