Mombasa County Government has directed all schools, institutions, health facilities and workplaces to provide soap, detergents or sanitizers and running water for hand-washing as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19 or corona virus.
According to a statement from the county health executive Hazel Koitaba, this is meant to protect our children, learners and the public in general from contracting diseases.
Koitaba also noted all the three suspected cases reported in the county turned out to be negative and did not meet the World Health Organization (WHO) case definition.
"Currently we do not have any case of corona virus" said Koitaba.
Ten African countries Algeria, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria and Morocco have reported nearly 100 coronavirus cases, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.
