Mombasa Gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shabhal has vowed to open a recording studio, if he wins the seat.
Shabhal said the studio which will be the largest in the country will have audio recording facilities as well as equipment for video recordings.
“We will also have a photography studio as well as promotional services aimed at promoting works from our artists,” he said.
He was speaking in Changamwe after joining upcoming artists in launching of Naona Talents Africa.
He said the studio will create employment opportunities to not only the artists but also other people such as producers and etc.
He said for long artistry in Mombasa has been empty words as it has not been translated to money in the pockets of the artists.
He said it was time for someone to transform the Mombasa’s music industry to make it beneficial to local based artists.
Shahbal has been calling for support of local arts.http://ommydalla.co.ke/people/item/1944-support-our-local-artists-shahbal-tells-kenyans
According to the candidate, he intends to transform the county to Kenya’s biggest entertainment hub by introducing various programs for the artists.
“What is Mombasa raha without entertainment and job opportunities? We want Mombasa to be an employment hub through entertainment industry,”Shabhal said.
But such promises are common in Mombasa especially when the electioneering periods nears.
Maybe it is because the entrainment industry especially the music sector has been stale with no much strides made for years.
Previously, several politicians have promised to open state of the art studios in Mombasa, promises that have never been kept.
