The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate ODM leader Raila Odinga has asked IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati to disqualify himself from conducting the Mombasa and Kakamega elections slated for Monday.
Raila said that Chebukati is an accused party in the presidential petition he filed at the Supreme Court on Monday, and as such was unfit to conduct the election.
"Chebukati should disqualify himself from conducting the Mombasa and Kakamega elections, he is an accused person," he said.
Adding "He should let the IEBC vice chair conduct the election,"
He was speaking at the Wildwaters Complex in Mombasa where he had come to drum up support for the ODM Mombasa gubernatorial candidate Abdulswamad Nassir.
The ODM leader was accompanied by his running mate Narck Kenya party leader Martha Karua.
Raila alleged that Chebukati was paid to announce the fake presidential results saying he was the legit president elect after the August 9 general election.
"He (Chebukati) has no shame, four commissioners abandoned him. Even the three who remained with him did not accompany him to announce the fake results,"
He said that the Mombasa and Kakamega elections were intentionally postponed to affect voter turn out in the two Azimio strongholds.
"They saw they were going lose thats why they intentionally postponed the elections to affect voter turn out in our strong holds," Raila said.
"The Mombasa and Kakamega elections will not be conducted by him, this is the only way to ensure justice for Mombasa and Kakamega people," he said.
He urged residents of the two counties to turn out in large numbers and vote on Monday to ensure that ODM captures the two seats.
This was Raila's first visit in Mombasa after the August 9 general elections.
On, Monday he led the Azimio brigade to file a petition at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, challenging the president elect William Ruto's controversial win during the general election.
"I am not sad and I don't fear, I am confident the truth will come out and justice will prevail," said Raila.
Karua exuded confidence that they won the August 9 general election assuring Kenyans that the court will vindicate them.
"They have delayed the win but let me tell you that it's coming home. We won't say much about a matter in court, but I assure you that we have enough evidence to win this case," said Karua.
Karua urged Mombasa residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for Nassir to be the second Mombasa governor.
She exuded confidence that Azimio was going to win the Mombasa and Kakamega governor seats.
"We have 24 counties behind baba, they have 21.We are going to win Mombasa and Kakamega. Let us show them that the majority are with baba," she said.
Karua hailed praises to Raila for being steadfast in fighting for democracy in Kenya.
"We thank God for baba, he has never tired from fighting for Kenyans. We hope he continues with the same spirit," she said
