Moi International Airport in Mombasa has earned continental recognition after securing three runner-up honours at the 2026 ACI Africa Passenger Facilitation & Readiness Excellence Awards.

The awards were presented during the Airports Council International Africa (ACI Africa) Conference Gala Dinner held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The airport was recognised in the Governance, Stakeholders Integration and Processes categories in the airports handling fewer than two million passengers annually.

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Acting Corporate Communications Manager Elijah Miano said the recognitions reflected the collective efforts of the airport’s staff and stakeholders in enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.

“These achievements reflect the collective effort of the Moi International Airport team and its partners. Their work connects the many services involved in airport operations to deliver a smoother experience for passengers,” said Miano.

The Governance award recognises clear leadership, defined responsibilities and effective oversight, while the Stakeholders Integration category focuses on coordination among airlines, government agencies, ground handlers and other service providers.

The Processes category recognises airports for well-designed passenger journeys, sound procedures and continuous improvement in service delivery.

According to Miano, the awards demonstrate the importance of collaboration among the various stakeholders involved in airport operations.

He congratulated Moi International Airport staff and partners for the achievement, while thanking passengers for their continued trust.

Miano said KAA remains committed to building on the progress made at Moi International Airport and improving service delivery across its airport network.

The ACI Africa awards are based on jury evaluations of submissions from airports across defined areas of passenger facilitation and operational readiness, with recognition organised according to annual passenger traffic bands.
