Pwani Oil Comes To The Aid Of Flood Victims In Kisumu County Featured

Leading edible oils and soap manufacturer Pwani Oil has come to the aid of over 2,500 households affected by floods in Kano and Nyakach areas of Kisumu County following the recent heavy rains witnessed in the area and across the country.
 
The Mombasa based manufacturer has donated over 5,000 litres of cooking oil and over 3,000 Kilograms of multipurpose bar soap to the victims mainly concentrated in Nyamaso, Ombaka, Ogenya, Ayweyo, St. Aloyce Gem Rae, Sango Buru, Sango Rota, Achuodho and Abwayo areas among others. Each of the 2,500 households will receive 2litres of cooking oil and 1kg of soap.
 
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the floods. Through our donation today, we hope to somehow alleviate distress experienced by the victims. We pray for their safety and wellbeing.” Said Pwani Oil Commercial Director Rajul Malde.
 
The company handed over the donation to the Community Co-ordinated response team and Soko Bila Waste – a foundation founded by Susanna Owiyo, a celebrated musician and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador. 
 
“We are grateful to Pwani Oil for coming on board to support our efforts.You have come through at time when our brothers/sisters, women & children are in dire need of urgent assistance.  This will go along way to ensure the affected have a smile this festive season .” Said Soko Bila Waste Foundation Founder, Suzanna Owiyo. 
 
This is not the first time that Pwani Oil is taking part in similar initiatives to support communities. Early this year, together with other partners, it organized a free eye camp which saw over 800 residents of Siaya County benefit free eye checkup, medicines, cataract surgeries as well as free reading glasses.
 
The camp was held at Gagra Secondary School, central Uyoma location, Rarieda Sub-County.
Pwani oil is the manufacturer of leading brands including Fresh Fri, Popco and Salit cooking oil as well as Whitewash, Sawa and Diva bathing soaps among many other household brands.
 
In attendance during the handing over were Community Co-ordinated Response team- Dr. Joshua Oron, Dr. Omanga, Yogi Dauda, Kisumu County Head of Special Programmes - Ruth Odinga and Suzanna Owiyo -UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador and Founder Soko Bila Waste.
