Coronavirus: KDF Carries Out Disinfection Exercise To Curb Spread Of The Virus Featured

The Kenya Defence Forces has stepped up its fight against the #Covid-19 pandemic by carrying out a thorough disinfection exercise in its military establishments, starting with Nairobi.

The Defence Forces Public #Health team headed by Major Ojango Oyengo commenced the exercise on Friday, 10 April 2020. Embakasi Garrison, Lang’ata Barracks and Camp David were the first beneficiaries of the disinfection.

“Open areas mostly used by the Service Personnel were disinfected as well as their accommodation and other buildings, both exterior and interior, to curb chances of infection,” Major Oyengo said.

On Sunday, 12 April, the Public Health team took the exercise to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital, South C and Kilimani areas. Major Oyengo said the use light machinery for the exercise was for ease of manoeuvrability.

The exercise will be repeated after a week, a period within which the disinfectant is effective on bacteria and viruses. The exercise will be rolled to other #military establishments across country in due course.
