Capital Youth Group Donates Sanitary Pads To Keep Girls In School

More than 400 girls from Waa boarding primary school can now afford a smile after they were supplied with free sanitary pads.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Capital youth caucus group seeks to ensure that no girl child misses school because of lack of sanitary pads as they cope with the menstruation cycles.

According to the group's secretary general Evans Momanyi, most girls come from poor families and are always at risk of missing school while they are on their periods because they have no proper way to manage hygiene.

"What we are trying to do is help our young girls serious challenges during such moments and at times forced to miss classes or go for other alternatives which turn out to be dangerous" said Momanyi.

Momanyi revealed that they will also be educating young girls more on menstrual health management.

He further called on the government and other well wishers to come out and support the school girls especially those from poor families"

"These are our children, sisters and they need our support so let us stand with them."
