The World largest floating library MV Logos has finally docked in Mombasa.
The 132-metre-long floating library, operated by GBA Ships, a non-profit organisation based in Germany, docked in Mombasa a few minutes past nine at the Mbaraki wharf within the Mombasa port with approximately 350 people on board.
On her maiden call, MV Logos comes to the East African Coast after an 18-year hiatus following a visit by a sister vessel- MV Dulos in 2005, was received by Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and the Mombasa county government officials.
She will open her doors to members of the public to select books of their choice from the wide array of genres including science, sports, hobbies, language, faith, cookery arts and medicine for purchase.
For 45 days starting Thursday 24th August, members of the public will be treated to fun of touring the expansive vessel to explore other amenities like the international café, visitors deck, welcome area among others with an entrance fee of fifty shillings only (Ksh.50).
Sailing under Malta flag, MV. Logos Hope has a length overall of 132.5 meters, width of 20.8, a draft of 5.2 meters and a carrying capacity of 12,519 Gross Tons.
KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto in a statement hailed the visit to the port of Mombasa by MV Logos Hope saying it denotes Kenya's progress towards reclaiming her position as a cruise hub in the Indian ocean cruise circuit.
