Changamwe Mp Omar Mwinyi is mourning the death of his wife,  Rukia Khatib.

According to a source the late fell ill suddenly on Monday night and was rushed to Pandya hospital where she died.

"It was just sudden. May her soul rest in peace" said the source.

Funeral arrangements are currently underway at the family home in Port Reitz, Changamwe.

Several leaders have come out to condole with the family.

"Mama Rukiya was a strong and kind-hearted woman with whom we interacted closely during campaigns. Her strength, kindness, and warm hospitality will be remembered fondly. To my brother Omar Mwinyi, I know you have lost your strongest pillar, a confidant and friend.
