Vocal political human rights crusader Shipeta Mathias has joined Haki Africa as a rapid response officer, a position that was left vacant after Francis Auma moved to Muhuri few months ago.
The position is the heart of the organisation and this appointment is a clear indication of the organisation having faith in youth leadership and new breed of human rights crusaders.
Before the appointment, Shipeta was the chief of staff in the office of former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. He was also a student leader at Kenyatta university.
He vied for the Jomvu parliamentary seat in the last general elections but lost to Badi Twalib.
Speaking to Ommy Dallah Shipeta confirmed his appointment stating " Yes, it's true. I applied for the position , was called for the interview and I passed".
"Currently as we are speaking am on my first assignment in Malindi" he added.
