Women Urged To Strengthen Their Role In Leadership Featured

Women have been called upon to strengthen their role in leadership right from the Nyumba Kumi initiative to the ambassadorial level.

Coast Education Centre [COEC] Executive Director Halima Mohamed said there is need for women to strengthen their role at the county government level too.

She called on women opinion leaders and those in leadership to ensure their role in countering violent extremism is visible.

“Let women come out and take up the fight against violent extremism in coast region,” she insisted.

Halima said the COEC through partnerships want the unheard voices of women to be heard.

She was making her remarks during a two day coast women conference on prevention and countering violent extremism organized by COEC held at Travelers Beach hotel in Kisauni constituency, Mombasa County.

The COEC Executive Director said women through social programs need both internal and external support from partnerships.
